The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Miya listens intently whilst he speaks about a memory, a fondness seeming to enter his voice. Tilting her head at him, that faint smile dances upon her lips as she imagines an older version of Ludo preparing meals for guests. For whatever reason, she pictures a full-bodied man with a cliché mustache and the thought seems to amuse her greatly as that smile becomes even wider on her delicate features. "I can imagine those dinner parties could be quite fun," she states with a light laughter so ringing in her lyrics. As their conversation subtly shifts to her family, she offers a sad smile, "My mom passed away a few years ago from cancer," she explains gently, "She's the reason why I decided to go into the medical field," her voice takes on a more quiet note. There is grief that so lingers within those chocolate eyes, something that would always remain, yet, the young woman was healing. She's grateful for the change of subject, moving towards their food at hand. When he offers to pair drinks with their meal, she nods eagerly just as the waitress returns asking for their order
Listening to Ludo rattle off his meal, her stomach growls rather loudly while her cheeks flush a brilliant red. Miya hadn't had the chance to eat since that morning, no wonder her stomach wanted to roar at the world. Quickly lifting the water glass, she takes a sip just as Ludo gestures to her, asking her what she would like. "Actually, beef stew sounds wonderful! Especially with how cold it is outside," she tells the waitress, smiling up at her casually before she bustles away to place their order. Reaching for the beer again, she takes another sip, the carbonation sliding over her tongue easily now. As her gaze turns onto Ludo's smirking face, she giggles quietly, "Well, now I'm determined to finish it. I can't let you think that I would make you take one for the team, that would be rude of me! Plus, it sounds like a challenge more than anything when you put it that way," Miya beams at him and just to show him that she was entirely capable of finishing that beverage, she takes two large gulps a wide grin so adorning her lips. "See?" She states rather proudly of herself, a smug look twinkling in her eyes.
Explaining her reasoning for being here, she smiles at him widely, "Thank you! Yes, I'll be here until I finish my residency and I'm hoping a position will open up here at the hospital. I already work there, well, intern there, so I at least have my foot in the door. I really like the city, it's the first place that's felt like home to me," she rambles on in explanation, shrugging as she works more quickly on her beer, finding she rather enjoyed the taste after a moment. His comment on the beverage has her laughing, "You were definitely right, I think I want another one!" She exclaims before turning in her seat to wave down the waitress, quickly ordering another set of beers for the two of them. Her head was already beginning to feel fuzzy, her cheeks flush from the alcohol but she felt good. She would admit to her inexperience in alcohol, however, she would not admit that she had never been drunk before. How very impressing for the young woman! Finally turning the tables on him, she questions as to what the Italian man did for a living.
His answer was vague, though she's satisfied with it overall. He didn't know her, why should he share such personal information with her? Brushing the thought off, the petite Asian woman merely nods at him, "At least you'll have a job and an established business when you're ready to take it over," she mentions, finishing off the rest of that beer. Showing him the empty glass, "See? I tooooold you I could finish it," she draws out her words giddily just as the waitress returns with two more glasses, the amber liquid filled to the brim. Eagerly reaching for hers, she merely keeps it in her dainty hands rather than working on it immediately. "Thank you! I enjoy it for the most part, although, I've never lived in a city where there were so many animal attacks," she frowns into the beer, distracted by her reflection for a moment before returning her gaze to his. As the waitress returns a moment later with the poutine, she's distracted by the the smell that so wafts in her direction. As Ludo tells her to have at it, she quickly grabs her fork and digs in; he didn't need to tell her twice. The first bite has her eyes going wide, "Oh my- that is delicious! I've never had poutine before," she exclaims excitedly as she continues to spear fry after dry and munching on it delightedly.
Pausing, she reaches for her drink and takes several more drinks of it, the alcohol already having effects on her body. As her eyes turn towards Ludo's glass at hand, "You know, if you need me to take one for the team I'll finish yours. You haven't even started on your second one yet!" She giggles teasingly, that alcohol making her far more giddy and open than she normally would have been.
