Dorian AragonaHis Royal Majesty
How unfortunate it was that Dareios should find himself without a wife. Dorian, perhaps, very much of that near age-old way of thinking that marriage was something of a necessity for the continuation of those affairs and estates and yet really, he supposed, when one was immortal as Dareios and all other vampires surely where, then that pressing desire to get married and father children was perhaps not nearly so pressing after all. Vampires too, to his knowledge, were incapable begetting heirs in any sense as it was. Yet still, the Monarch found himself half inclined to wonder if Dareios found himself lonely within that large home and without even a manservant of maid to keep his company. Did he ever want for a wife? Or even any company at all? Dorian quite contemplating those question in that moment. The vampire, in the least, surely had his work to occupy him. Dorian knowing all too well just how much time those affairs of state could be inclined to take up when allowed free rein. That easy comment the vampire offered on his family however, as he leant against that aged chest of draws, was one sentiment Dorian perhaps knew equally as well. Marriage, once, had been just as much a matter of religion as it had been politics. Dareios and himself, it seemed, stemming from that same religion in turn. That playful tone hardly missed.
"Ah, but i know that all to well. My Father attempted to marry me off four times when he lived. Frankly I am largely fortunate Ferdinand and my Mother are not still alive, they would likely die all over again if they knew I was marrying a man."
That warm simper found his lips all the same, this new, modern age far more accepting of that sexuality that had, once, been a veritable death sentence in his own time. Dorian so hardly opposed to all modern changes in any sense. Darius simply stating he hardly had the time for that sort of nonsense, Dorian merely allowing one eye to lift slightly upward.
"Perhaps you have just not met the right person yet."
After all, he had been made to wait nearly six hundred years for Sebastian. Perhaps Darius' own lover was merely slow in arriving in turn. Fate a terribly curious thing sometimes and yet Dorian hardly said any more on it. That vampiric mayor was a charming, pleasant sort of man, at least by Dorian's own opinion. Surely, if he desired to find someone he could. Dorian largely oblivious to the mans internal considerations of that love so long ago had and lost. That query off those homes he still maintained in Italy met with a simple nod. Dorian affording his companion the names of those palaces he still kept ownership off and indeed, still spent time within even now. That mention off Caserta prompting that invitation to fall from his lips. After all, Darieos had been his acquaintance for some time now, the man not only his friend but the mayor of the very city he now called home with Sebastian. It was only right to invite the fellow as both a friend and a business associate of sorts. That grin easily returned as the man readily accepted that invitation to his wedding, that pat on his shoulder met with another soft chuckle before Dareios so made that assurance that he must surely meet Sebastian before that wedding itself- Dorian's head nodding simply then.
"I should quite like for you to meet him too. I shall be in touch with you and we can organise it.."
Perhaps they might enjoy a dinner or even a drink together? Dorian so making that note to inspect his own schedule in those coming weeks for an evening that might suit all of them in turn. The Monarch's attention shifted then to those aged pieces of furniture, his fingers brushing softly over that worn wood and that near exquisite craftsmanship that complied it. How he adored such pieces! Dareios entirely impressive in his knowledge of them, the man clearly a professional in every sense. Dorian offering his own story in a near offhanded fashion then of the man he had once known as his boyhood companion. Dareios so displaying that same response as Sebastian had. As if Leonardo had truly gone on to become someone of merit. Dorian still struggling to believe the boy he had raced around the halls off his palace with had become a man of such influence and yet, he supposed, Leonardo had always been prone to wondering of things no other man ever thought to wonder off. Dorian chuckling softly at that look upon Dareios features in turn before his head nodded.
"I fear that is quite the look Sebastian gave me in turn. I did not know him as an artist or inventor though, he was merely my friend, we grew up with one another and truth be told I miss him every day. He did enjoy his drawings though and coming up with the wildest of ideas. It was he, I think, whom inspired my own curiosity in all things. I did bring one of his notebooks to show you today though, I thought you might like to see it. I have so many of them stored in palace i hardly know what to do with the things."
After all, Dareios surely had an appreciation for such things! Dorian struggling, still, to comprehend his childhood companion as anything more than the young man he had known. Leonardo's fame near lost on the Fae King as his attention shifted to that exquisite chest then. Dorian quite unsure he had seen anything like it, the man inquiring after it readily.
"Yes I do fancy it, it's lovely."
That sudden offer of that chest as a wedding gift readily saw that surprise return to his features, Dorian so preparing to argue with the man that he surely could not accept such a generous gift and yet to do as such would surely be seen as a slight. Dorian allowing that grin to return to his features then.
"This is a very generous gift, Dareios! I am assured Sebastian will adore it too. If you wish to further restore it then please go ahead. Thank you for it."
Those words were entirely genuine then, Dorian regarding the other man warmly, his fingers brushing back across that chest before the Monarch moved to reached into his own jacket then. Plucking that very book he had promised from within only to lay it carefully out on top of an antique dresser besides Dareios then. It's leather cover was worn and frail, its pages equally so, that paper grown soft over all those many years. Dorian opening that over with a distinct care then to display it's inner designs to his companion. Those pages filled with early designs done by Leonardo Da Vinci himself, several of them for flying machines and other contraptions, several more pages adorned with other ideas before the last held those carefully painted portraits of those beings Leonardo had favoured- the man having signed the base off each of them. That notebook filled with things the world itself had never seen.
"You are a professional in this business. What do you think would be best done with these? I have a number of them, plus many off his other works. I will never know why he kept painting women without their eyebrows. I told him no one would ever want a portrait like that but he insisted. Sebastian tells me one off his paintings became very famous. Either way, am I best to give these to a museum?"
