East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

"You have been deprived of the luxuries of quality bath products." Alexander insisted, that more opulent lifestyle of his youth surely shining through in those moments he so protested the steed's consideration of soap. After all, although such a concept of soap was near non-existent within his own age, those Greek bath houses still managed to provide an experience quite unlike any sort of modern bathing experiences. How he had missed those on those years he'd spent at war. Even now, the prospect of that warm water was altogether tempting as that cold rain so pleated their forms. Even so, Alexander hardly let those thoughts of what could come after that battle distract him any longer, the man wholly determined to press forward and into the quietude of that looming forest. Those trees pressed in on them in a fashion even Alexander found suffocatingly irritating, if only for the way in which they so impeded upon him. He was well aware of his steed's dislike for any such closed space, his own fingers gingerly stroking the Stallion's neck in an absent minded gesture of comfort as they continued onwards through that narrowed darkness. Those brilliant flashes of light overhead and deafening booms hardly assisted in any fashion and yet, it was perhaps that whole scene and the discomfort he knew it would bring his steed that prompted the Macedonian King to so sweetly coo those Ancient Greek words.
He had hardly anticipated his efforts to comfort his mount would prompt the equine's own sort of effort at 'bonding'. That name so hesitantly uttered to him in that foreign tongue. He knew well, how important that bond between rider and horse was, that simple trust Frost had placed in him in that moment prompted the Dark Hunter to offer his own attempt to connect with the creature, even if his true name was hardly clandestine in the slightest. Those deviations were more often contributed to changes in languages and the ever revolving times then a desire to keep that word a secret. His efforts, however, seemed wholly appreciated all the same and yet, any silence between them was but temporary in the wake of that need to find those deer to mask the heavy fall of Frost's own footsteps. It had hardly failed to cross Alexander's mind that, admist that thunderstorm that roared overhead, those precautions were hardly as much of a necessity as he had once considered them to be. That thunder would surely hide any sounds, the lightning easily capable of throwing those horses into array and that very rain surely could have masked their scent with those more earthy smells that filled the air. Still, he supposed it was better to guarantee his own victory, much less the simple fact of the deer already cooperating so easily.
He knew well that keeping those deer moving in such an orderly fashion was likely going to prove to be a particularly difficult feat, especially with that storm overhead. Already those noises seemed to provoke a sort of anxiety within Frost, one Alexander attempted to soothe with the gentle forewarning that he only intended to further increase those noises. Those two singular words caused his blue-green eyes to flutter towards the steed beneath him, the uncertainty within them was hardly ignored and yet, Alexander had every intention of proving that trust true, even if he hardly voiced a syllable in return. Rather, it was only once he had those deer exactly where he wanted that his own affinity for war so extended, the Dark Hunter clearly intending to manipulate that very battlefield as those trees cracked around them. He urged Frost onwards the small congregation of hooved creatures crashed through the undergrowth and out onto the bright open field.
Silently, he cursed the distance that existed between them and that camp. He hoped that the pair would come out, quite literally, on top of them. They had far too much warning now for his liking and yet, this was surely the only opportunity he had. He could hear the nervous crying of those horses, beneath that rumble of thunder, and yet his focus was settled entirely upon that ebony stallion. They were closing that distance fast and yet, he was assured it was not fast enough. Alexander shifted only slightly as those crossbow bolts flew within their direction, that accuracy altogether lacking enough to be anything more than a mere annoyance. His own hand reached out, that affinity so calling for that weapon that was apart of his very soul. That sword that appeared there was nothing short of pristine, the blade nearly shining as it whizzed through the air but mere seconds before that inky steed simply disappeared altogether. He allowed his companion to move onwards, altogether assured that Frost would turn to face that battle behind them.
That inquiry caused a small frown at the corner of his lips, his gaze easily shifted across that ambush with a clear display of discontent. "Yes, though how badly, I can't say." He commented, judging swolly by the red tinge that coated the tip of his blade. That foreign tongue that so screamed at him drew the hunter's gaze and yet, he hardly seemed perturbed by the Immortal and his tied up chestnut. Quite the contrary, Alexander requested with that small shift of his feet for Frost to slow. His hand reached out yet again, his will alone materialized that very shield and yet, it was little more than a precaution to ensure their safety. Oh no, Alexander had other plans for that remaining soldier. Rather, it was that very affinity in Siberia he so called on, that one to change hearts and empower minds. After all, the King had every intention to take over that mounted calvary. This would be his first conquest. "Where is Xerxes?" He inquired, his own voice holding every hint of that very power to so manipulate the art of war, to coax the man to respond to his newfound commanding officer, even if he was not yet aware of that power Alexander held not only over him, but soon, the entire Calvary.
