The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Those deep rumbling words of his were entirely lost on her ears, the woman far too concerned about who was following her and the best way to get away from them rather than listening to the directions that he rattles off. Even after she crashes into his solid chest, she merely steps out of the way, hardly offering much of an apology as her distraction is so complete by the stranger in the darkness. Red flushes her features, Miya wishing she was just home right now, even if Arlo was awake and roaming the house, she didn't mind in this moment. His words flow in one ear and out the other as she excuses herself rather abruptly before gripping her messenger bag and walking as quickly as she can down the sidewalk, disappearing around the corner. Miya was beginning to feel that tension loosen in her stomach as she glances over her shoulder to find that no one was following her, not even that large man she stopped at the crosswalk for directions. She's very nearly ready to heave a sigh when she turns around and a man is standing there, a malicious smile coating his features.
Miya stops, unable to do anything more than look at this inhuman man before he moves far too swiftly, his hands gripping her arms and slamming her against the brick building. Her head connects with the wall with a sickening crack, stars blotting her vision momentarily, the man whispering to her that they were going to have some fun. She chokes out words and the vampire merely laughs at her, those fangs glinting in the moonlight and Miya can't help but stare at those fangs in morbid fascination. Once, she thought her roommate had simply had an extremely good surgeon, managing to cap his canines and shave them into vicious points. Even after she had touched them she didn't believe him, Arlo finally had to cut himself and his wound to heal before Miya had finally realized he was something else other than human. It was impossible and most days she still didn't quite believe that there were other beings out there. And yet, here she was, once again in the cold embrace of a vampire, desperately trying to eat her.
Eventually her legs give way as she slumps to the ground, the vampire crouching with her, hardly letting her go, Miya's eyes entirely widened in shock as she simply stares at her attacker. This was no college boys that just wanted to have fun, that were too pushy for their own good, or a ridiculously drunk man that got too handsy at the bar, this was something she didn't quite know how to handle, especially without her pepper spray. Maybe it was high time the girl invested in something more than pepper spray. Blinking at the vampire, he's gone in a matter of seconds, Miya's brain not entirely catching up to the present as his cold hands leave her arms, bruises already blooming in her wake. Chocolate eyes move to the stranger before as he quite literally holds the vampire off the ground by the back of the neck. The vampire screeches an ungodly sound as its arms flail trying to get a grip on the stranger. Blinking again, Miya simply sits there, staring up at him as his voice snags her attention again. Did he really? The petite woman couldn't recall him telling her any kind of directions.
Frowning, her emotions positively frayed in that moment, she has this ridiculous urge to argue with him. Her fear and panic and anger swirling all into one giant emotion and Miya wasn't entirely sure how to handle it. So, she does what she does best, "You did not," she stares up at him, her brows furrowed in a frown as she barely detects his eyes in the dark and in that moment... he didn't look human either. Though, her emotions chase away that concern before she pushes herself to a standing position, her legs positively shaking as she uses the wall for balance. Reaching up to touch the back of her head, she winces, her fingertips coming away wet with her blood. Even the fraying of her emotions wouldn't let her nausea rise at the sight of her own blood. Dripping her fingers, the blood dripping onto the ground, its only then that she notices how very frantic the vampire had become. Twisting and snarling, he manages to break free of the stranger's grip, dropping to the ground and in a blink of an eye, he's behind her. Miya hardly registers his presence, as the vampire wraps her in an almost lovers embrace, before he's diving straight in, his fangs sinking into that soft flesh at her neck.
Squeaking in more surprise than pain, it takes her a moment to realize what's happening as her messenger bag falls to the ground. Finally, she gathers her thoughts enough to reach up and swat at his face and arms, a futile attempt as it only seems to encourage the vampire. "Let go!" She shouts at him, that fear beginning to rise again. Was this really how she would go? To a vampire? God, she really needed to move out of this city.
