East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Taliah is convinced the conversation has strayed from her, at least for now. The woman hardly wanting to indulge this man on who she was and why she was here, truly, it was no one's business but her own. Though, she knew well most others tended to be rather pushy... especially in this city. It was an odd thing, something the Brazilian woman couldn't quite get used to. Perhaps it was the reason she remained in her bakery most days, refusing to leave unless absolutely necessary. Taliah was hardly sociable by nature, though she did have consumer service, she rarely finds herself in the company of others, or at least, making that decision to do just that. The simple fact that nearly all her conversations she's had while living in the city were in her bakery was saying something. Still, this conversation was something she had never experienced before, how very unsettling it was to see yourself so completely in front of you. The woman merely raising her brows at the site.

Frost's joke rolls off his, providing a small simper on his normally neutral features and Taliah can't help but allow a small smile to tug at the corner of her lips. "I see you're rather humble as well," the woman comments, though it's in a rather lighthearted tone. The shift in his demeanor is sudden, the man seeming to be more forthcoming... more pleasant and it's not lost on Taliah. She notes the shift right away, the man seeming like a guarded person, perhaps almost as her if not more. Still, the Brazilian woman hardly comments on it as he finishes that pie, Taliah almost impressed that he could eat a whole pie by himself, and yet, she had no room to talk. The woman indulging in whole chocolate cakes by herself from time to time. She introduces herself then, the man only providing his name in return. What a strange name. Yet, before she can comment on it, his vocals are dancing across the bakery once more, Taliah merely lifting a brow at him. Hmmm. "It suits you," she merely shrugs at him. The woman hardly thinks it's his real name, though she wasn't about to pry. Clearly, there were a great number of people in this city that didn't go by their first name.

The conversation shifts back to the pies, Frost inquiring about that and though Taliah hardly does it on purpose, she turns her body towards him and squares her shoulders. All business again. "During the weekdays I'll make two or three a day but Friday through Sunday I tend to make five a day. That's only what I make for the store and not including any orders that are placed," she says, explaining her day to day operations. It was surprisingly hard to sell whole pies, the woman almost opting to go to orders only and yet, she stuck it out, most of her pies selling every day. It was satisfying to see her bakery grow. "I'd be happy to accommodate your friends and if they enjoy pies I can make more if you give me a heads up," Taliah states, her head tilting at him slightly in that way of hers. Her green gaze is drawn back to the counter as he pushes that empty dish away from him, her eyes scoping the glass plate, the man had practically did everything with the exception of licking it clean. Not that she minded, she always was pleased when someone enjoyed her baking.

As she lifts her gaze once more, she's about to tease him about the pie and yet, she doesn't get a chance. The man questioning her in such a direct way, she raises her brows in surprise. She had never had anyone point blank ask what she was, it was considered rude, at least where she was from. Though, she hardly has a chance to answer before he's launching into a practical interrogation, Taliah's eyes merely hardening ever so slightly as she folds her arms over her chest, the woman beginning to close off again. Who was this man? Why did he care so much? "I'm with no pack, nor do I intend to be with one. I've found hiding in plain sight does wonders. My choice on picking this city is none of your concern," she states curtly, though she hardly offers much more information, let alone what she was. Taliah hardly shifting anymore these days in fear those poachers would track her down, those men highly persistent when they came to finding her species, and yet, Taliah was the most unique of all, her scales changing colors, sometimes at will and sometimes not. She still couldn't decide if they wanted her as a trophy kill or to throw her in some cage and put her on display for the world to see, perhaps sell her to the highest bidder.

"Is it normal for people in this city to be so direct?" She questions then, "As far as what I am, I'd rather keep that to myself," she states again, her voice firm on her answer. Though, she was rather certain that with any normal man, they might take offense to her words and decide to walk right out that door, drag her name through the mud, tarnish her reputation and her store. Yet, she was willing to go through those lengths to hide what she was. Still, she hadn't quite figured out who this Frost was. Oh, the possibilities of this outcome!
