East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I'm about to make my own way, heaven help me keep my faith

Kathryn has been steadily building her resume practically since the day she was born. While Kathryn's grandparents knew that is was important for kids to be kids, they also knew that the world that witch with those long, dark silken tresses had been born into was not an easy one to live within. She would need to be prepared for the day she left the nest, and what better way than filling her time with sports, extra classes, work, and giving back to those that had less than she. And that way, their granddaughter would be able to feel herself become fulfilled in both mind, body, and spirit.

While the witch with long, chocolate tinted hair had read enough about the company, browsing the website, even visiting one of the buildings they had worked on, there had not been much to reach about Oliver Burton, the owner of the company, the one Kathryn would be interviewing with and trying her best to impress so that perhaps he would give her the internship and supply her with the credits she needed in her Masters program to graduate. If this didn't work out, Kat would be stuck right at the beginning, finding a place she was actually interested in, milling through the jobs they provided, and seeing if they had an opening, and waiting for one if they didn't. It was a long, tedious process that she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to delve into once more. But hopefully, this interview would prove to be a successful one. And hopefully, she thinks in the back of her head, there wouldn't be any strange winds brewing during it. Her powers had been kept under better control, and she wasn't feeling nervous, but they've surprised her before. She just needed to be mindful of it, no distractions.

Of course, on the outside Kathryn retains her composure, keeping steadfast and confident, something her grandad had repeatedly told her to be when she went into an interview. First impressions, they were more important than one might think, and you only have one chance at them. The witch follows his gesture, taking it to mean that she ought to sit down and she did not need telling twice. Silver blue gaze meets his own of rich, dark brown, eyes like glaciers moving on a frozen tundra. "Thank you," she responds in that feminine tune as she sits, crossing her feet at her ankles, while posture remains upright. Kathryn was prepared for any questions he may throw at her, the dark haired witch, while inexperienced in the real world, her time having been so consumed by schooling, she hadn't ever held down a full time job for longer than a summer, and even then, they were internships. Companies didn't typically hire students full time, knowing their schedules were as unpredictable as tides in a full moon.

Silence comes over the pair as Kathryn's silver blue gaze glances down as he adjusts the cuffs on his jacket. She had at the very least, learned a bit of patience, and to not interject and let the interviewer lead the meeting. And just as the man with deep, dark chocolate eyes seemed to be unaware of what Kathryn truly was, so too was she unaware of what Oliver Burton seemed to be, Kathryn's experience with wires kept to a minimum, having met a were named Levi, but even then the witch had not a clue as to what he was, except perhaps an annoying pest. As he speaks, breaking the silence between them, Kathryn offers him a friendly smile. "Perfect," she says in lower soprano tones. Preparing herself for whatever he may ask.

'Tell me about yourself.' And Kathryn practically doubles over with laughing (though of course on the outside she is as stoic as ever.) Because if she wanted to tell the whole truth she would say something along the lines of. "Well, I found out my grandparents and my mother for that matter, who by the way abandoned me when I was a toddler and the only form of communication I have from her is the typical birthday card and Christmas present, found out they have been lying to me for the past how many years about what I really am. Which turns out, I'm a witch, yeah with magical powers over the wind. Crazy right? And now all these memories of my powers are slowly coming back, even though I still don't understand why they lied to me. Anyway, I found all this out from a vampire that was trying to kill a warlock, though we found out a way to just make him forget rather than actually kill him. Then I met a dark hunter who wanted to kill me for just being a witch, and that same night I met another witch whom I am trying to convince to be my mentor. Oh yeah, and my powers are starting to get better controlled, but there are still times that it looks like a tornado went through my house because of all of the wind." Yeah, she could say that, with that feminine voice of hers, and that would about sum it up for her talking about herself now wouldn't it?

"I assume you are aware of your company's reputable reputation," she begins in confident, honey toned words. Silver blue eyes peering at the man, her grandad had always said to have 'confident, but not creepy,' eye contact. His words tingle on the edge of her mind, bringing a delighted smile to her face as she begins to speak. "I decided that classroom work simply wasn't the only only thing I needed to prepare myself for the business world, I thought an internship would provide me with skills that listening to a lecture and writing essays could never give me," she says brightly. Then the young witch thinks of what she will be doing when she finishes with her Masters, of moving back home and going into the family business, her pride and passion, and those glacier blue eyes alight with not love and happiness, but with fire and pride, and almost a protectiveness, after all, her grandad had built their family business from the ground up and Kathryn didn't want anything to take it away from her. Which is exactly why she needed to become the best she could be in the business world. The good news was, that the company was expanding, and her grandad wanted to add a whole other area on the other side of the country, the difficulty now arose how to design and establish the layout of everything, from the farmland, to the factory, to the tasting rooms and whiskey bars. And Kathryn, who had always had an eye and interest in architecture would take it upon herself to learn all the she could, starting right here in the office of Mr. Oliver Burton.

"Designing, building, the process possess challenges at every stage. But when it's done," she pauses for a moment, feeling the weight of her words, thinking of her own family business, the home her grandad had built that her grandparents still lived in today. It was a thought she hadn't realized until this very moment. "You have something eternal, not all companies can vouch such a thing," she says with a small and a shrug before making a face. "Sorry, that probably sounded strange, but never the less," she stands firm in her words, confidence never flinching for a moment in the presence of the bear. "It is how I feel." Honest.
