He wasn't sure what he planned on doing for the day. Should he go look for Sorcha? That seemed desperate. He should wait for her to come to him. She'd let him know when she needed his help. In the meantime, he just felt useless, but he shouldn't. He should take it as a plus cause now he could focus on what he really came back to Sacrosanct for: his vengeance for Julia. She was his protege and she was irreplacable till some jerk hunter took her out and made it personal. He didn't even just kill her quick. He tortured her. Erik could tell she went out in agony and his heart wept for her. She didn't deserve that, but whatever dickhead did that to her would be begging for the same death after what Erik planned to do to them. He couldn't think of anyone who would go to such lengths to hurt him. He didn't go around just making enemies. He laid low and for the most part, avoided humanity. But now he wanted the ones who did that to Julia to pay dearly. He'd followed the trail here to Sacrosanct but the trail ran cold. He'd questioned a few hunters but either they didn't really know anything or they were damn good liars. He wouldn't give up though. He couldn't. But today was about catching up on the news and people watching, one of his favorite pastimes. There was an elderly couple near the door that he liked to watch. They were almost always here, holding hands and whispering sweet nothings to each other as they sipped their coffee and shared a bagel. It made Erik sad about his own immortality. He rolled his eyes as another regular came in, a young guy who liked to hit on the barista's, but none of them ever gave him a number. Another girl walked in and Erik's eyes swept to her for a second before he continued his reading. He'd seen her a few times too. She was quiet, usually kept to herself. He was actually surprised that she was making her way to the corner he was currently occupying. She usually sat off by herself. She walked to the armchair near him and asked if he was saving the seat. Without missing a beat, he glanced up. "Sure was. There's a young lady who needed a quiet place to read. I believe her name was..." His voice trailed off as his brow lifted and his lips twitched, obviously inviting her to give her name and fill in the sentence. |
