The Sun Also Rises
The entire wedding had been, Dorian was assured, quite a lovely affair. How vastly different it had been to his own and yet he had near enjoyed the intimacy of that smaller occasion. That wedding held between family and close friends alone rather than the world at large. The Monarch had been nothing short of serious in his duties to walk Raven down the aisle. Dorian taking on that task with a great deal of solemnity. After all, a woman's wedding day was very near the most important day of her life. Dorian utterly refusing to allow but anything to tarnish that very occasion. So especially not any faults from himself. How readily he took upon that task off ensuring Raven was ready in turn. Dorian, in those moments before, content to assure of both her choice in husband and her desire to marry. It was the done thing after all. Dorian himself thoroughly enjoying marriage far more then his own single life. The Monarch assured Raven would feel very much the same. Dorian so hardly choosing to convey the notion that Sebastian had so been required to calm him down those hours before. The Fae nothing if not determined to achieve perfection for this very day. Even if the appearance of Serafina as that Maid of Honour no less had veritably thrown his own efforts to remain calm into chaos. Even the presence of his brother Aiden had done little to sooth his concerns. Dorian having spent the better part of that morning trying to avoid the persistent witch with her....attempts to gain his attention. Serafina's decidedly terrifying boyfriend only furthering his efforts to avoid her. Aiden seeming to find the entire thing amusing. Matteo seeming equally content to merely watch. Even Alexander made little effort to intervene. Sebastian, it seemed, the only reliable member off his family at all when i came to shielding him from the witches advances.
How pleased he was for the start of that wedding. Eah being so forced to take their place. Aiden guiding Serafina away from him to allow Dorian to take his own place with Raven and guide her down that aisle before handing her to her new husband. Tobias, for all his oddities, appearing decidedly smart in that suit and tie. Dorian moved easily then to take his own seat beside Sebastian for the rest of that ceremony. How vastly different it was from their own! The Fae King thoroughly enjoying observing those differences. Those very vows decidedly curious and yet he found a certain degree of sweetness to them all the same. Dorian wholly content to join the rest of that congregation in their applause at the end of that ceremony before he pressed his own lips to Sebastian's cheek with assurance he would meet his husband at the reception. Dorian slipping from his seat to join the rest of that wedding party for the required photos. How much more difficult avoiding Serafina became then! Several of those photographs requiring him to stand beside her! His cheeks very near aflame at her mere presence! Goodness how he hoped he would not look so terribly flustered in those photos. Aiden, for his part, appearing to make a distinct effort to distract the witch. Dorian wholly content to utter his thanks to his sibling in those few moments afterwards. Only for Tobias to ask why he was afraid.
"I am not afraid, Tobias. I am merely....preserving the sanctity of my own marriage."
That this seemed lost upon the boy was hardly surprising. Dorian so at last moving to make his way into that reception hall to find his place beside his own husband. Sebastian hardly having failed to notice his slightly flustered state. The Monarch content to assure the vampire he was more than alright before offering that curiosity he found in how very close Aiden and Tobias seemed to be. Tobias, after all, was nothing if not....an oddity and yet how very much he seemed to adore Aiden- and Aiden adore Tobias in turn. It was a rather...lovely friendship. Odd though it was. Dorian's attention turned then to that entryway as Raven and Tobias made their entrance. Dorian joining in that round of applause once more. How lovely Ravne looked. How truly beautiful- and how very deserving she was off this day to call her own.
"I hope she and Tobias will like our wedding gift."
What on earth there was not to like about a golden tea set he hardly knew....
