East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

[Rixon, any] I'm rusted from the rain

Felicity's backpack contained three things: a copy of David Clement Davies's The Sight, a brown Moleskine leather notebook the size of her hand, and a men's button-up shirt that smelled oddly of horse.

It was late afternoon. Felicity sat tucked in the corner of the Inner Sanctum, clothed in inexpensive grey jeans and black tank top, both stolen. It had been a week since her first step in this city and already her face had given up its gauntness in exchange for smoother sharpness. Her muscles returned from stringy to wiry, her posture regained its iron-rod likeness and the hollow of her abdomen had the beginnings of a belly once more. The left side of her head was shaven once again; the hair would never fully grow out, but if she did not keep it closely cropped, it got patchy and uneven and betrayed the otherwise subtle presence of the scar tissue on her scalp. The rest of her hair was clean-ish; she had showered a few days ago in a gym and the knots were all worked out, but the job had been a hasty and careless one. Fortunately her hair was coarse enough not to become oily after four days without a wash.

For a few hours she sat at her corner table, backpack on the floor between her legs, coffee in one hand, The Sight in the other. Felicity had no love for coffee, but she needed the caffeine and the sugar if she were to survive the horse boy's company today. Things would go smoother if Frost decided to give her a bed, or even a roof. She was also mildly interested in seeing him again after learning, to her surprise, that he was still alive. He had been in this area of town recently, according to her sharp nose. Perhaps he would be here again today. Her scent was just as prominent as his; even if he didn't catch her message tonight, she'd be here again tomorrow. After that, she'd probably just track him down to whatever hole he currently lived in, but she didn't think she'd have to do that. Frost was smarter than that.

Though she had planned to return to the outskirts of the city for the night, the setting sun streaming through the window seemed to suck the caffeine right out of her and she eventually fell asleep with her forehead pressed against the window. Her book closed over finger, keeping her page, and the dregs of her coffee grew cold as the day crawled to an end. A few hours remained before the cafe's closing time, and somewhere in her subconscious Felicity was still alert in the unfamiliar environment, but for a while she shut out the world and rested.
