East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

something wicked this way comes

The saccharine simper upon the young witch's lips hardly faltered even at the unorthodox order of her companion. Coffee tastes, after all, tended to be rather individualized, even if Serafina found herself falling into the stereotypical 'white-girl-coffee'. The barista took their order, only to leave their table once again in relative peace. The witch's stormy gaze shifted back towards her companion, only to note his attention seemed focused on someone, or something, behind her. Serafina was hardly concerned, however. She never went anywhere unaccompanied these days - the ghosts that clung to the still living crowded the room in a way only she could see. They would surely tell the young witch if any sought to do her harm, even if it was just to earn her favor and a listening ear to their endless requests so they could pass on into the afterlife. Her attention remained focused upon the assassin in front of her, however, as he spoke of his apparently limited work opportunities. It surprised her, in a way. Sacrosanct had its fill of the rich and famous - surely they were willing to pay a handsome sum to see someone dead...weren't they? Such musing was kept to herself, however, as Gideon keenly reminisced upon their first meeting and the box he so graciously carried for her. "Mm...yes, I remember." She answered simply, only for the man to plow onward without even the slightest hesitation.

It was his gently probing into her earlier slip of the tongue, however, that seemed to garner the majority of Gideon's interest. His query, however, was one she easily waved off with a flick of her wrist. "Oh, please, it's nothing to concern yourself with. Unlike you, my store goes through...waves of activity. The holidays always bring an influx. Every holiday. Aphrodisiacs for Valentine's Day, unique fireworks in July, ouija boards at Halloween, and don't even get me started on Christmas. Trifling affairs but it keeps the lights on." Somehow, she suspected his inquiry into her line of business hardly had to do with the front shop and more with the behind the scenes affairs. Her shoulders lifted in a vague shrug, "Whatever my client's require...provided I don't have to leave my store for it. I don't work...in the field, as you might say." Assassinations, kidnappings, anything that required Serafina get her hands dirty were a hard pass for the woman. She could craft a poison to kill a man in any hundreds of ways but she was never the one to pour it in a glass or tip a dagger with it. Such labor was beyond her interests. It was, after all, what made them such splendid business partners...on the occasion.

"Have you been to St. Michael's? It's over on 43rd. Quaint little church. You know the act of confessing can be quite...liberating. Deacon Ken Mueller does it every Thursday and Friday. You should go and let me know what you think." Discussing the theft of anything, much less an item belonging to a man of faith, was hardly a good idea in public. Not to mention the difficulties that surely would arise from stealing something from a house of worship. Serafina was willing to give her thieving friend the chance to scout it out before regaling him with the gritty details of her quest.
