The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

With one hundred floors and a 125-foot spire, the Starlight Tower rises high above the Sacrosanct skyline. More than just a landmark, the Starlight Tower offers a unique mix of restaurants, shops, and offices spaced throughout the building. Organized into nine verticle zones, each of which features a sky lobby and a light-filled garden atrium which merge the upscale interior with a faux landscaped exterior setting.
A resigned sigh drips from my lips as she tells me that she doesn't feel any better about the accident. I shake my head and pat the dash affectionately. "That's okay, she needed a tune up anyway. Gave me a reason to park her for the day." My smirk is softer this time, wanting to reassure her that all is forgiven. I could never hold a grudge against her if my life depended on it. As I give her a long look, she seems to withdraw a little, pulling her hand back into her lap and my face contorts in disappointment for just a moment before I look back out the windshield. She seems to want distraction, her gaze following the scenery outside the window and I try to focus on my driving instead of the tingling of my hand where hers once caressed it. When I make a comment about judging her skills, she tries to act offended but I chuckle under my breath at her narrowed gaze. "I look forward to it." I answer back, my eyes twinkling with a merriment I seldom feel unless I'm with her. When I catch a glance of her again after my murmur, I know she heard, the evidence of a blush upon her porcelain cheeks as she looks out the window before my brows rise in surprise at her whispered reply. I watch her teeth rake across her bottom lip and I have to look away now as a groan threatens in my throat, that gesture doing more to me than she'll ever know. Not wanting her to lose confidence once again though, I'm quick to look back at her, meeting her gaze head on as my expression softens, my eyes burning with the feelings I hold for her. "You have no idea the power you hold over me. Your words are my undoing, as always." This may be the first time I've told her out loud what I'm thinking, my eyes searching her delicate features for a few moments more to gauge her reaction before I look back at the road. Distractions come once more in the form of the grand houses we're passing, Isolt's expression amusing all on its own, the kind a kid gets when they see thei first snow fall. Such innocence and awe touch her features that I wish for once I had an artist's creativity to paint the moment and hold it in time forever. As we stop, she leaps from the car with the grace of a ballerina, her eyes traveling over every inch of the property. I take my time getting out, letting her enjoy the moment as an amused smirk pulls at my lips, eyes watching her with the same awe she holds for material items. As the truck driver calls her attention, I feel a surge of agitation that he would ruin the moment, my jaw pulling tight but I hold back my temper. She turns a smile on the driver before turning to me and I tilt my head, giving her my full attention. I shrug lightly at the question and turn to the guys unloading the tree. "The den should be fine, in the corner across from the fireplace. You should have plenty of space. Head through the doors and straight past the foyer." I walk toward the doors, propping them open for the men as I look for Isolt, finding her at the trunk of the car, getting the rest of her things. As she brushes past me into the house, I watch with wonderment once more as her features turn back to that child-like glee as she looks around. Her words have me smirking as I come to stand beside her, just close enough for our shoulders to brush as I lean down toward her ear to whisper. "Wherever you want. The sky's the limit, or rather, the roof, unless you have things to put up there too." |
