East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

when there are no more worlds to conquer

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Those that had known him at his best would have laughed at the notion of him spending his days settled in a chair by the fire sipping coffee, much less stooping to serving others the same delicacies. His world then had been so vastly different. The world had once been his for the taking and by god did he take everything. Nothing was out of his reach, or so he thought. His army - the men whom he had entrusted his life with had failed him and in an effort to forget it, his drink too betrayed him. Everything he had acquired in thirty years had been destroyed in ten days and now? In the modern world? There was no room for a conqueror. There was no world left to explore. He had seen every inch of it. A small shrug crossed his shoulders though he found himself unable to answer for a brief moment. "It was...for retirement." He admitted, shifting ever so slightly in his spot in an uncertain fashion. "I needed something to do." In truth, Alexander generally avoided discussing his past. His identity was something he revealed to particularly few. He had built up a reputation in life and in death. His hands were red with blood - it was a part of himself that he wanted to keep from the timid were.

Instead he momentarily distracted himself with the hearth that resided at the forefront of his living room, effortlessly coaxing a roaring fire from the logs. His blue-green eyes glanced upwards towards the girl, his eyebrows furrowing ever so slightly as he noted the fashion at which she seemed to watch those dancing flickers of light and heat. "Is everything okay?" He inquired briefly, the pot of milk still in hand. It wasn't particularly peculiar for Alexander to notice such things about others. After all he was known as one of the greatest strategic minds for a reason. It was rarer, however, when he ever bothered to acknowledge such perceptive gained insights. He was doing his best to distract her - from the storm that brewed out side, from the fire which seemed to so enthrall her, and, perhaps most of all, from himself.

The notion of eatting raw meat wasn't nearly as appaling to Alexander as it perhaps might have. He had certainly eaten his fair share of pecularities, enough so that thar rather then contemplating on the animal she was, he offered her the smallest effort of reassurance. "Some places would consider that a luxury. In my youth, meat was something most could not afford." He didn't dwell on it, however, his sea-tinged gaze watching the milk that swirled around and around in his pan. Slowly he pulled out the skillet, quickly dipping his finger in it to gauge it's temperature before placing it on the brick lined front of the hearth. "How chocolatey do you want it?" He inquired, his fingers deftly beginning to unwrap the pile of chocolate bars he had brought with him.
