The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Maybe it was the headache that still beat in her head like some punk rock band. Maybe it was exhaustion that gradually tried to pry its fingers into her consciousness. Maybe it was simply the city, especially this part of it that almost tangibly thrummed with magic. It was like electricity just behind a wall, she could hear it, feel it prickle across her honey skin, but it was just out of reach when she tried to focus too hard on it. Whatever the reason she was most definitely not on the top of her game this morning to overlook the attention she had garnered from two different individuals and their scents. Perhaps it was the smoke, she rarely gave in to the habit except when stressed or on the worst of mornings like these, but it could easily dull the senses. Regardless of the reason she knew it was not a lack of her own abilities when the other woman's voice broke her reverie.
Her hazel eyes scrambled for only a moment before they landed on the woman with short, black hair and a jacket that she was seemed out of place during the summer, then again weather in any city could often be fickle and the cold didn't bother her. Her nostrils flared, ignoring the rumbling in her stomach as she scented the remainder of warm pastry dough and gooey filling and shifting through to the distinctive scent of a were. Not a predator, especially not feline, a scent she would have recognized almost instantly, equine perhaps? Though not of the typical variety. She sniffed trying to tune out the barrage of other scents that tried to follow that one. While her hearing and smell were not quite as strong as they were when shifted it was still above average and it could easily get...distracting.
Pink lips quirked into something of a sardonic half smile as she shifted to lean her shoulder against the building and fix the pixie-cut girl in her steely gaze.
She whirled a bit too quick in the instant before he spoke, a low growl and hiss dying on her lips as her eyes landed on the slender man with almost literal fetlocks of brilliant white hair covering large portions of his pale face. Her face settled in an instant, any trepidation washing away and replaced with the somewhat snarky façade she was used to displaying. Another were, she realized in a moment and in a bit of surprised recognized his scent as decidedly equine, more so even than the other girl. What was she the damn horse whisperer today? Still she regarded him coolly, he held himself in a strong manner and that caused one eyebrow to lift incredulously at his words.
Her body shifted so that her purse was against her back, pressed between herself and the wall now. The money she had 'earned' was all she had to get her through and she didn't relish the idea of having to repeat last night's escapades so soon should he be desperate himself. Not that he looked it. It wasn't the only play she had, but it by far had the best return on her investment. Her gaze narrows at his words, a bit long winded if you asked her which could mean more than a few things, but she tried to take it with a grain of salt and the warning he seemed to want it to be.
Though she wasn't stupid and after his words her senses kicked in to high gear making sure no one else would sneak up on her today. Stifling a yawn she looked back to the other girl to gauge her own reaction to the man who, though he appeared languid and relaxed, she believed held much more just below the surface. She had a talent for reading people, a skill that happened to help her on more than one of her 'hunting' trips to the local bars, and there was decidedly more to this one than met the eyes.
