The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I haven't seen my maker since that night at the masquerade party and I'm starting to worry about him. What if hunters got to him or worse, he decided to leave without a trace again? It took me centuries to find him this time so if he leaves me again...I guess I'll go on searching. But I'm starting to like it here so I probably won't leave any time soon. It's become quite peaceful in Sacrosanct, besides the hunters that continue to pester me. I've killed most of the ones who got too close but every once in a while, I just amuse myself by knocking them out and leave them to feel stupid later. They seem to target me because I can go out in the daylight. I guess that makes me more of a threat by their standards. The darkness is still more familiar to me though so I am out in the moonlight tonight, wearing faded jeans and a plain white tshirt and sneakers. I haven't seen that interesting witch since that day in the cafe. I wonder if she left town. Too bad. But since then I've been paying more visits to the Witchery, checking out their merchandise and asking questions. I'm intrigued with the things witches can come up with. They're so handy with their magic and their trinkets but I know that they're dangerous too. Some of the products are made from dark magic and I make sure to avoid those at all costs. Necromancy ran rampart in a town I once visited called Salem and I often found myself hiding so as not to become a victim of their witchcraft. Since then, I've tended to avoid witches until I met the witch in the cafe. She didn't seem to be of the same breed as those nosy teens. Maybe it's worth giving their race a second chance. We'll see. But today I find myself being pestered by a small group of hunters. I've never seen them before but they knew the minute I walked out of the pub what I was and apparently it's pick on leeches night and I'm first in line. They circle around me and I simply raise a brow, amused more than anything. One plays with a wooden stake and as he threatens me with it, I smirk. "You should put that away before you hurt yourself." I murmur teasingly. The other steps forward with holy water and I scowl, my fangs already extending beneath my lips, ready to be utilized if necessary. I narrow my eyes daringly as another tells me to keep my trap shut or he'll turn me to ash. "You can try." I say in a smooth calm voice. I know I'm asking for it but maybe tonight I need a good fight. |
