East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

If you play, you play for keeps

She really did not know that he was preoccupied with the girl in the corner. She had seen the staff area, seen the girl take her break a few before the young man came in but she failed to put two and two together. She really was not that intuitive and she really did not have a reason to pair his despondency with anyone. For all she knew his dog could have just died, and that she wanted to cheer him up. Maybe they could go walk in a park or even sight see together! It would be nice to make a new friend in this humongous city.

Yet moments dragged on without him even responding to her presence, even longer after she had spoken that she had began to squirm. Maybe she had overstepped her bounds. Eyes are riveted to his tattooed fingers; if sight alone could touch she would have reached out and stroked the lines. Tattoos always intrigued her yet they were off limits to her. As a model she could not afford to be inked or marked in anyway. On paper she could be photoshopped but on the runway...well it was super hard to hide that.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he lowered his mug. Those inked fingers placing the glass cup down before shrugging the leather coat from his body. It seemed heavy yet he did it with such ease, such grace that spoke of strength and many weeks of wearing it. It was probably his favorite coat. She opened her mouth to speak again when she noticed the rest of his artwork, the way they trailed his arms and the way they contrasted with his white shirt. So riveted she was that she missed his chocolate depths, pulling her hands to her lap to resist tracing the pad of her finger down his arm. That would be considered creepy right?

Then he spoke, his tones subdued, still very much in a mood and without realizing it she reached out. The fingers of her right hand tracing the tattoos on his left hand, the touch feather light, before catching herself.

"I am so sorry. They look so nice. Who did them?"

A pause is given and it is evident when she realizes and computes his earlier words.

"Oh I know how that is. I just arrived in town and I want to see everything! So in order to stay away I must drink this."

She chats on excitedly before adding on.

"I am more of a green tea type of girl. Although herbal tea is a close runner up."

With that she beams at him, grateful that he hadn't shooed her from the booth. When he raises the mug to his lips she mirrors it, only to find that her cup was now empty. A sheepish look ghosting her face as she puts it back down, once again entirely focused on him despite his distracted countenance. Yet the look is short lived as she giggles in triumph, she got him to smile...somewhat.

"Umm NO! I don't think black is quite my color. I am more a Captain Marvel with all her blonde hotness."

She sticks her chin in the air like she was offended that he would even compare her to a man in a bat suit. The whole time her eyes are alight with good humor.

"I think it is the other way around. I am here to get a long list of trouble makers so that in the dead of night, when the moon can glitter of my red superhero suit, I will sneak in their rooms and give them a spanking!"

With this she gives a resolute nod, as if it were perfectly acceptable before dissolving in a fit of laughter.

"Why? Would you rather I be Batman so that you could be my Robin?"

She manages to get out between soft gasps for breath. She had notice the thaw and she wanted to keep it going. She might even get his name.
