East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Samantha Cassidy

Samantha's gaze shifted over to the man as he hesitated, his foot hovering just above the accelerator as he looked over at her. She could feel the brief bit of confusion radiating off of him - gone as quickly as it had come - and she gave a firm nod at the motion that this car was his favorite. She was unsure if he wanted her to ask about the others, though really, she didn't want to know. It wasn't as though Samantha had always been as poor as she was now. She'd grown up in a nice, middle-class family. She'd always been well cared for, and truthfully until she'd been kidnapped, she'd never had to figure out how to come by anything she needed. After, though... Well, it was hard to find a job when you were technically dead. Finally, she brought her attention back to him as he mentioned her employment status. Quickly, Samantha shook her head, holding up a tiny hand. "No, please," She said softly. "I wouldn't want to leave the Cat's Meow. I don't hate it as much as it sounds. The money is good, and Nadya..." She smiled a bit at her name. "She's good to me. I wouldn't leave."

Samantha had just turned her head to admire their view of downtown when he'd faltered on his sentence. Her eyes flicked back over to him, knowing all too well the question that he would likely ask her. "No," She said in response, her voice so soft it was barely audible. "I don't age. I won't die. I will remain like this forever." The thought had plagued her when she'd first discovered her immortality. Before, she'd had the same dreams as any other human teenager. She'd graduate, go to college, fall in love. She's get married, have a brood of tiny children. Now, none of that was going to happen. She'd remain eighteen for the rest of her existence. "But hey," She said finally. She attempted to make her voice light as though she was joking, but she was sure the way her voice cracked she was anything but convincing. "Most women would kill for this. I'll never wrinkle or have to invest in Botox, so that's a plus, right?"

Samantha was sure she was anything but convincing, so she merely turned her head back towards the window. Too often, the young girl tried - and failed - to forget about what she was. Every time she caught sight of her reflection - with her eyes just a little too big now and her ears a little too pointed - she was brought back to that crippling reality that she would never, ever change. She swallowed hard, forcing back the hurt anger that she felt every time she thought about it too much, and turned to him. "I assume that you do, in fact, age?"
