East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The faerie girl hardly hesitated in continuing to rub circles on Nadya's skin in rather a motherly fashion. She could remember her own mother doing this, working to soothe her when she was upset, and could only hope that it would offer some degree of comfort for Nadya. She listened quietly as Nadya attempted to tell her that it was more complicated than the faerie could imagine. She didn't doubt that. After all, Raven and Aiden both had attempted to explain what it all meant that Aiden was Alpha, and what that meant for Samantha by association. It was complicated, and the faerie girl merely did her best to stay out of the pack politics. After all, she wouldn't like it if Aiden tried to attempt to tell her how to run her monarchy â€" though, she had to admit, she wouldn't mind his direction. The shudder that ran down Nadya's spine caused the empath to recoil, wrapping her arms around herself at the intensity of the feline's emotions. It was uncomfortable for Sam, and she was quite unsure how Nadya was even holding herself together.

"I know," Samantha said very quietly, even if she didn't understand the entirety of the situation. She knew from Raven that whatever Aiden said was law. He had asked her to go with Sam shopping, he had asked her to spare clothes for Sam, he had asked her to let Sam use her shower. None of the faerie's protests had mattered because Aiden had requested it. Aiden, the Alpha. She knew, as well, that Tobi was the Beta of Aiden's pack. That Nadya was as well was news to her, though it was hardly surprising. She was his sister, of course she would be one of the highest ranked members in his pack. Regardless, Nadya was so important to Aiden. "I didn't realize you lived together before the Ark." She commented softly. Though there was so much that she didn't know, she supposed. So much that had happened that Aiden didn't talk about. Once more, Samantha's fingertips moved to stroke Nadya's skin in an attempt to soothe her and allow her to work out the tale she was providing Samantha with. The bit of news that was most shocking to her, however, was that Aiden didn't grow up like her. "He didn't grow up... you didn't grow up together? You're siblings?"

"Of course it's you," Samantha continued, biting her lower lip as she listened to the girl. "You're his sister. You're probably the most important person in his entire world. And don't... don't give me that, Nadya. He loves the pack. Maybe it was you that he started it for. But he has Tobi, he has Raven. There are other people too that he loves." The girl looked down at the floor as Nadya continued to speak, though she took in very little of it. Nadya leaving would crush Aiden, of that she was sure, and yet... and yet Samantha understood. She understood entirely why Nadya couldn't have the twins at the Ark. It was dangerous. Hardly a place for children to grow up. And yet it was the pack home. It was where Nadya lived, where the rest of them lived. Perhaps Nadya had done what was best in getting them out of there for the time being, but even that was tearing her apart. She was right, there was no good way to make everyone happy, no way for this to fit into the happily ever after of fairy tales.

"You know," Samantha said finally, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her skirt as she avoided Nadya's gaze. "I have a family, too. No, not children, and not siblings. But I have my parents." Her voice hitched ever so slightly on the topic she avoided at all costs. Thinking of her parents hurt. Thinking of what she had lost... "Parents, and grandparents, and a few aunts and uncles." She could picture them so readily, and the thought caused her chest to feel tight. "My parents and I were so close. They don't even know what happened. I vanished without a trace one night. Those girls. They kidnapped me. Tortured me. Slit my throat and made me one of them. And my parents have no idea. I have no idea what they must think. Do they think I ran away because I don't care about them? Do they think I don't love them? Do they think I'm dead?" She shook her head. "I can't go back to them. I can't have that family again. But you." She looked up at the woman beside her, her gaze steady. "You can. You can have your children and be a family and have it all. You just have to decide if it's worth it."

That she was encouraging Nadya to leave Aiden she was aware of, though she refused to use those words precisely. She couldn't help but let her mind stick on Nadya's words about the Ark not being safe, the steel ship such a mystery to her. Frost's warning stuck in her mind. There were so many doors at the Ark, so many things she didn't know. How Aiden had got his hands on the pile of money he'd offered her to go shopping â€" he'd told her not to worry about it, after all. What exactly it was Aiden did. How he afforded the luxury cars he seemed so fond of. How he'd supplied her with a brand new apartment. All of it were things that Sam wondered, but was told not to worry about. "Nadya," Samantha spoke softly, her gaze looking up to meet the woman's eyes. "You said... Aiden is always... working. What does he... do exactly?"
