The man is interesting enough as it is and when he responds to her initial quip, she knows that she will enjoy his company quite well. His smile is contagious as one quickly forms upon her own lips and she nods in agreement to his statement. Yes, it was always a lovely thing to meet someone that will readily spread cheer to complete strangers, though she cannot help but allow the slight tick in the back of her mind remind her that not all men are kind for no reason. Some, mostly many, would appear well-mannered to a woman to get close and to get out of her what it is that they really want. She cannot imagine this man to be so crude and yet she will be cautious as to how far she will allow their social engagement go.
"Well it is certainly lovely to meet the one true gentleman of this city, Erik." She replies with a chuckle, red flushing against her cheeks as he lifts her hand to meet his lips in a rather old-fashioned manner. Certainly, this is all a ploy with him. No man during this day and age acts so courtly to a woman - much less anyone else. The city was all about hustle and bustle, getting to and from places, not caring about who got in your way. Everyone was so wound up into their own lives that they had forgotten what it was like to show hospitality and good morals. Rose cannot plead innocent to being so bound by her own work, but she never allowed it to affect her social standing with those she met in her own personal time. That southern charm was instilled so deep in her blood that it was no easy feat to simply forget it just because she had relocated.
She is entrance by him, even more so as the minutes pass like hours in her own mind, but maybe that was just the second glass of whiskey taking effect. Even so, she liked this Erik, and really hoped he wasn't just another scumbag with a good act. Her eyes follow him as he turns back to the bar, lingering on the strong features that make up his face before he addresses her again and she is fast to look away, as if she could recover from her staring. Try not to look so desperate! She scolds herself silently as she turns cooly back to her own glass, returning it to her lips for another sip of liquid courage. Her resolve was quickly crumbling - but why was she suddenly a sixteen year old girl again when around this guy? It boggled her mind and honestly made her a little upset. This was not the normal, well put together Rosabella, this was high school Rosabella. She needed to go back to where she came from.
His deep timbre brings her back to reality and she looks away from the counter to allow him her undivided attention as he asserts his curiosities. Her career.. the city. These were easy enough subjects to cover without coming off as a total loser. "My work brought me here from down south - bigger city equals better business." She smiles, confident in her response, though she is determined that this round will be her last if she wants to hold on to any sort of sobriety she may still have. "Ah, the city. It has its special nooks. I, for one, am in love with the victorian aged buildings. They show their history and tell so many stories that have become muddled from generation to generation. Behind all of the modern style that is bleeding in these days, there is still a age-old beauty in it all.." She speaks as if she had lived here her whole life and with the knowledge she has acquired for her job, she may as well have been.
In her one minute of speech, her eyes had been drawn from him and to the walls just across the bar, trailing along the faded golden accents and the rustic tones still peeking through. It was a city that inspired her creative side and she let her fervor show on occasion.
"Why did you leave where you were?" She turns back to Erik now and returns her own inquiry, slightly curious about where he had come from and if everyone there happened to be so cordial.
