North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

Blake nodded absently in half agreement at her muttering, his attention drifting momentarily away from their table as conversation came to a brief lull. His eyes peered over the other patrons of the establishment, some sitting by themselves like he had been while others were huddled in their small established cliques, scoffing when some outsider attempted to breach their closed walls. Poor sods, it looked like they were going home with their hand tonight. They probably would have had better luck had they hit up the club instead of the swanky bar. His attention was pulled back to the table from the sounds of rustling, Blake sipping from his glass again as he curiously watched her rummage furiously through her bag. Once he finished the liquid in his glass, he set it on the tabletop and nudged it to the side, out of his way, much more interested in the tiny "clinks" he kept hearing as she rustled.

He was tempted to ask, to make some kind of corny joke, but who was he fooling? He was Johnathan Blake Holmes, the man with terrible jokes and little sense of timing, at least compared to his brothers. He was sure the oldest, Jay, would have some stupid little quip that would have her laughing but his would just be awkward. That was if he could even think of one, which he couldn't. So the point was mute and so was he. "Serafina? That's a really pretty name. Sera-fina. Sera. Fina." He rolled her name around in his mouth, mulling over it. Yes, he liked it. It was a nice name, a good name. Fun to say too.

Blake was a little surprised when their pleasantries took a turn as she was suddenly clutching his hand, rubbing something into his skin. He had half a mind to jerk his hand away from her but he wasn't nearly so paranoid (or rude) to believe she was attempting to poison/drug him in the midst of this crowded bar. Still, he hadn't a damn clue what she was rubbing in his skin. When she withdrew her hand, he started to pull his own toward him when she was extending something toward him. Her words brought a red color to his cheeks, a sheepish smile stretching across his face into an attempt to hide his embarrassment. "No, not drugs. Not the illegal sort everyone thinks anyway, just one of the deadliest that's been legalized: Tobacco. I'm attempting to quit cigarettes for the ump-teenth time." He would claim boldly in his head that she didn't care but she had asked so he would just have to settle with arguing his insecurities in his own head.

"You know, I hadn't pegged you as one of the homeopathic-healer-types." He blurted as he looked over the vial she passed him. Apparently he had flipped his little filter off and was out to either insult or offend or something someone who was trying to help him. He wasn't really the guy to believe in those homeopathic things, whatever they were, but it certainly wasn't any prescription he'd seen before. She was full of surprises. Purify his system, hm? It almost made it sound like he was going to have the world's best poop or something- or jeez, what if that "or something" was terrible? Now he was a little more hesitant about what concoction was just rubbed in his skin by those very soft fingers.

I see the lights
Casting shadows on my screen.
And I don't mind
The lullabies from the machines.
