North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city, the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high-class architecture. The pristine streets are paved with stone and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting - for the right clientele. In the North, every establishment is eager to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - whether it happens to be illegal or merely involves looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allows them the luxuries that the North provides.

There have been very few things that have truly scared Amelia. This was one of them. She wasn't ready to die. She had so much that she wanted to accomplish in life. She still wanted to find love â€" that love that makes you do crazy things for each other. That love that made you wanted to go to sleep next to your lover and wake up in the exact same place. In her hundreds of years on this planet, she had never found that love. In fact, she hadn't allowed herself that luxury. How could you blame her for the shitty past that led to her immortality. But here, on the brink of death, Amelia knew she had to let go of her past and look for that special someone.

But that wasn't all that her immortality had taken from her. She had been left with no family, no one that she could count on. She moved through cities every couple of years, not allowing herself to make lasting connections. It was Troy that made her want to stay and give this town a try. Although she had seen such evils in this town, she had also been shown such mercy from someone who should be frightened of her. She had to repay Troy for his kindness if she ever survived this poison.

Her eyes watch the witch shuffling around her shop picking up canisters and vials. She wasn't sure what she was about to cook up, but she sure hoped that it would be enough to save her life. It wasn't long before the witch was shaking a powder over the arrow that stuck through her calf. She watched in awe as it changed through all the colors of the rainbow. When it was blue, that seemed to be all the witch was looking for because she nudges Troy towards her.

Amelia isn't sure exactly what to expect, but as soon as the witch asked Troy to hold her down, she knows this is not going to be comfortable. She tries to mentally prepare herself for the pain as Troy moves next to her. His strong arms hold her to the cot and she takes a deep breath. No sooner had the air entered her lungs, she felt nothing but pain as the witch began to work on the arrow. Every pull, every touch, every jiggle of the arrow was life a knife piercing her skin. She screamed out in pain, trying hard not to use her own excessive strength to come unglued from the cot. Her fangs seemed every more protruding as the pain increased. It was taking every cell in her body to keep herself calm enough so she didn't hurt either one who was trying to save her life.

When the pain finally ceased, Amelia fell back on the cot in exhaustion. Her breathing was elevated as the witch began to run the green poultice on her wound before wrapping it tightly in a bandage. Amelia could hardly think about the fact that she was going to live. She felt like she was surely going to die from pain. Damn dark hunters. If Amelia hadn't been such a kind soul dedicated to the treatment of others, she would surely be dead by morning. But Amelia would not raise a hand to them.

It was Troy's words that brought her from her haze. She smiled up at him as she eased herself into a sitting position on the cot. While the majority of the pain was gone, she still felt a dull, throbbing ache in her calf. She assumed that would be there until the wound finally healed. She would just have to suck it up. "That is very good news. Thank you for helping me, and you too Shui Lin." She smiled over at the witch, grateful for her help. Looking back to Troy, she reached out for his hands so she could ease herself into a standing position. "I need to get home. I'm vulnerable when I'm injured. Can you please escort me home?" It was one last favor that she could ask of her knight in shining armor.
