Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
One hand lifted almost instinctively to run through the near-black locks of his hair as he stepped back from his once-victim now that those webs had been removed, leaving the man to pull himself to his feet and work the kinks from his figure. The other vampire's assurance that it was an interesting gift momentarily saw something almost akin to a simper work its way onto the younger man's lips. A part of him was almost elated to hear some words of praise directed towards him. As if the opinions of the man before him somehow mattered. A warmth of sorts fluttering within his chest in a way he truly never had felt before. God how he wanted the man in front of him and yet some internal part of him warred against it still, as if unwilling to accept it. After all, so many years of lusting after women alone had apparently ensured at least some level of doubt in the boy that this was truly what he was feeling and yet it seemed so undeniable. That truly ardent blue of his gaze fixated almost unbidden upon the other vampires behind as the man stood to dust himself off. Arlo inclined to stare unashamedly for several long moments, his thoughts drifting to the sorts of places they never had before, at least, not over a man. That confusion still clear within his features as the man suddenly turned to face him in the wake of Arlo's own rambling. His voice laced with hesitation and bewilderment, the results, surely, of being a truly heterosexual being so suddenly afflicted and yet that desire, that want, it was almost overwhelming!
He continues to watch, almost transfixed, as the vampire lifts his palm to his lips- licking closed that small wound from the gravel before declaring there was nothing wrong with being gay. There wasn't, Arlo supposed. The young man rarely concerned with the sexuality of anyone else in any sense. After all, their blood still tasted the same regardless of whom they enjoyed between the sheets. Arlo so aware in that moment that is had been...months since he'd last had a woman in his bed and yet- even that thought was short lived- the other vampire suddenly coming forward. Why he stepped backward Arlo hardly knew, his body seemingly unable to decide which reaction it wanted until that cool, rough stone of the wall behind him ceased any further attempts at retreat. How badly he wanted this man and yet how...strange it felt. That hand against his cheek saw the younger man very near freeze, surprised at the warmth of it, Arlo clamping down his jaw if only to prevent that sound of need that threatened to escape him. That soft gasp of surprise however, refused to be held in the moment the other mans lips pressed softly to the flesh of his neck, the tips of those fangs gracing against his own skin. He'd never been with another vampire before. They always feared him, ran from him else out rightly attempted to hunt him in turn. He knew his own species often shared blood with one another in those intimate moments, Arlo so believing that this was what the other man was so attempting to do. It seemed a little soon, really, I mean.....he still had his shirt on and everything. Was this how it worked with another man? Did foreplay just not exist? Those whispered words threatening to bring a shudder to his spine before what the man was actually saying seemed to finally permeate that fog of lust.
"Wait, what?!"
That power had hardly lessened its hold over him and yet that knowledge it seemed, lessened its effectiveness in that moment, enough to see the blue eyes of the man widen, hands lifting upward to roughly shove the other away from him in the least. That power ceased its hold barely a moment later. The world suddenly seeming to shift into focus once more. Arlo staring at what had been his victim but moments before. He was hardly an unfortunate looking being and yet any sense of attraction had fled entirely, Arlo's lip curling upward in distaste as he pushed himself off the wall.
"You made me think I was bloody gay! You wouldn't have actually slept with me would you? I mean come off it man!"
An irritable huff resounded from within his throat, arms folding across his chest- yet not before one hand reaches up to let that hood fall at last. Arlo showing himself for the first time as he regarded the man now. It was a decent trick, he supposed, useful if nothing else. Arlo almost too relieved to be free of that confusion to be overly mad at the man- at least in this moment.
"Arlo."
He answered almost bluntly, eyeing the man with some measure of suspicion all the same, content to keep that distance between them for now. That mention of his Maker saw his own shoulders shrug, Arlo's gaze flicking briefly away from him now to eye those worn concrete paths that made up the alleyway. Patrick a topic the vampire simply refused, in most instances, to be engaged with.
"He died."
His voice is almost deadpan, blunt, short- leaving no doubt that he was hardly going to be dragged into that conversation now. The usually optimistic vampire veritably shutting down over this topic before the other mans command not to bind him again was simply met with a snort of sorts and yet he hardly wanted to risk a full assault of the others power. He knew he should have left the old one alone. No good ever came from them. He'd learned that years ago and yet his hunger had gotten the better of him again tonight. How was this man so calm? So unconcerned? How did he stop that hunger from driving him mad in the middle of the night? Would he truly have to wait hundreds of years for that sort of control? God- what had he become? Those perhaps self-depreciating thoughts were ended only by that sudden offer from the other vampire to show him how to hunt, one eye lifting upward dubiously. How much of a fool did he think he was? Arlo hardly inclined to follow this fellow off into the city just for him to lead him to some pack off his vampiric friends to be torn apart. That's what they did, after all, to those vampires like him. The ones who fed on their own kind. He knew this game.
"What do you mean by 'hunt properly'? Whether you believe it or not I'm generally pretty good at this, I get by. How do I know you don't have some coven waiting to jump me? How old are you?"
Well- if he was going to die he might as well satisfy his curiosity. His eyes narrowed warily still on the other man. Arlo curious and yet entirely cautious all at once. He had only survived this long, after all, because he was entirely content to flee most situations.
"I swear to God if you make me like you again I'll.....I don't know.....be a really bad lay."
