Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Kato Buhari
Kato was ever aware of the subtle vibration of the plane, wholly tensed for that next bought of turbulence that might be his end. However, the words that poured from Edie were quickly gaining his full attention that his motion sickness was taking a backseat. It was quite amazing what the beginnings of rage could accomplish. Yes, he was angry, he was angry at her now telling him before especially after taking her to see his family but he was more angry at the very existence of this Beck. Anger was a rare emotion for Kato but it seemed within the last 24 hours he was getting a good dose of it to last him a whole year. There was a reason to keep a rhino calm...angry rhino's rampaged and not much survived whatever war path they set themselves on.
The hand that wasn't currently being toyed with by Edie was clenching and unclenching the armrest of his seat as he watched her. He spoke of doing whatever she wanted, still traveling but staying away from where Beck was, or simply turning around and he meant it all. She just had to tell him what she wanted so he listening on thinly veiled control. His heart dropped with every detail she provided while his anger increased. Of course it was heard of in Africa to have arranged marriages so young, even child marriages in some remote places, but they were becoming more and more rare as they were frowned upon (and made illegal in some). However, the thought of that ever being done to Edie was....maddening. This...Beck, Kato was sure he was going to ring his neck and then lecture her parents on how they could put their daughter through that.
"That's why...last night...and the training." All the pieces were clicking into place. Her panic attack during training and then her break down last night at their fight which instantly sprung to mind the way his own hands had placed on her arms. Kato hated himself the instant he saw the marks he had left having always been so careful to control his strength with her more delicate body. A sudden rumble of turbulence had Kato's attention snapping away from Edie to curse at the plane as his stomach threatened to churn up their breakfast before it settled out once more. It took a moment but his narrowed gaze returned to Edie. "You should have told me sooner, Edie." Kato inhaled deeply through his nose to try and calm himself. "Every power has its limit, you can't be forced into changing that. You are not worthless. That...sorry excuse of a man is...and even your parents for allowing it." He gritted his teeth, "I would never- with you....with my kid...never do that." Perhaps it was striking a certain cord on more than one level. It had been a child, been Edie, and been her healing power which had been the end of his own father because he had stretched its limit too far thinking he could do more than he could with it. Kato would have so easily lost Edie without ever getting to meet her and that fear struck near as deep as the anger.
"I won't let anyone hurt you." Kato repeated once more with every affirmative to do so even if it meant his own life on the line. She was his to protect and lift up. "If you want to go and say your piece to them then we can do that but I will not allow any of them to lay a hand on you." In fact he wasn't so sure they'd be allowed within breathing distance. Kato glanced around before fiddling with the armrest of the seats, grumbling at it before figuring it out in making it pull up so he could wrap and arm around Edie and pull her to him. She was too far for his liking and that light which he loved so much disappeared. "Just tell me what to do." He whispered against the top of her head into her hair, "...I love you, Edie."
