Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
How simple those whispered words of reassurance and yet how meaningful all the same, Dorian allowing his own simper to brush but momentarily upon his features as he strove to focus what little of his power he understood upon that crowd at large. There was some part of him that remained decidedly anxious for this very experiment. The image of that rabbit still very much burned within his mind's eye, the horror of that one he desperately sought not to repeat and yet- foolish though it surely was, the Fae King so staunchly believed that nothing bad would occur so long as Sebastian was beside him. It was a ludicrous thought, entirely impractical in truth and yet it hardly prevented the man from so choosing to believe it else find some comfort in the simple pleasure of the man he so adored. If anything should go wrong he was simply assured Sebastian would repair it in some fashion or another. Regardless of those perhaps unclear gender roles so assigned to a relationship of this very nature there was a part of the King that had simply allowed Sebastian to assume that role of protector, in a fashion- irrespective of their shared gender. The realization of such a thing only now seeming apparent to the man and yet he merely allows the faintest of simpers to so touch his lips in consideration of it before his mind turns to focus more fully upon the task at hand. Dorian attempting, now, to take his time as his consort so suggested and yet too find that very sensation he so seemed capable of summoning though once more such a situation as this was different again. He had been capable of touching that flower, of focusing on a distinct and clear target with the purpose of commanding it in a fashion. This....was an entirely different situation, the man so struggling for several moments to expand that power outward and merely show to him those glowing lights without seeking to manipulate them.
It is that sudden burst of light that so takes the man off guard. Dorian ducking his head to spare his eyes that blinding white gold light that seemed to flare within the entire expanse of his vision before settling upon each and every individual within his sight. For several moments he is merely left staring, eyes wide in the simple awe of that which exists before him, such surprise surely evident within his voice as he so inquires as to whether his lover too can see those glorious lights. A faintest of frowns sees his own brow knit together in yet another measure of concentration, the man assured it was entirely within his capability to somehow bring those lights into focus for Sebastian in turn as the vampire so responded he could not yet see them. How curious a power this was and how foolish he truly felt so attempting to wield it. His efforts felt fumbling and clumsy, even that sensation of such a power stirring within him felt fractured and lacking and too potent all at once- as if he could not quite command that flow, at least not yet. Bringing those lights into the vision of his lover however is perhaps a far more realistic goal and in which he so seems to possess a near innate ability to understand, Dorian so removing that veil of sorts but a moment later to flood Sebastian own vision with those glittering lights that seem to touch every man, woman, child, tree and fruit and blade of grass that surrounds them.
That distinctly English phrase that so falls from his lovers lips brings a simper to his own once more, a soft chuckle resounding within his throat though he offers no further words upon it, merely allowing Sebastian those moments to appreciate the sheer wealth of light that seemed to exist before his own silver gaze so fixates upon those bare few individuals within that glittering landscape that did not seem to look as the others. He is drawn to them near instantly, one hand lifting to pull the vampires attention to them in turn, inquisitiveness touching his features once more as he so regarded these oddities amongst the crowd. Neither the man nor the woman seeming to hold any linking factor that might set them apart from those around them, at least not that his own vision saw. Such thoughtfulness on this matter however is decidedly short lived before he becomes so distinctly aware of the lack of glow about his own companion. It was almost offensive to him, in some fashion, that such light did not surround his lover as it did himself and all those around them. Dorian's own hand extends in that moment to rest upon Sebastian's arm, as if somehow seeking to understand why that light seemed to refuse to take hold before the other mans words seemed to find him. Vampires? Did this power, whatever it was, so fail to interact with vampires as a whole? Sebastian's words seeing his own mind consider what was before him all the more.
"I do not think it is warmth, as you said, it does not explain the flower. Flowers are not warm, nor are trees or grass and yet they glow. No, it cannot be heat."
He muses the words quietly and near to himself, assured his lover should hear them all the same. It is that very mention of life however- and the eternal death his lover so shared with the vampire man and the blonde woman whom had passed that saw Dorians head tilt if only slightly in that contemplation of this factor. People were alive, as were trees and grass and animals. Vampires were not. Like the stone of the castle walls that surrounded them. Nothing without life held any touch of that glorious glow. Yet surely he had not somehow gained that ability to perceive life on some level, much less restore it as so seemed to have occurred with the flower and- that rabbit. So much of his encounter with Raven seeming to make sense in that moment and yet it hardly brings the Fae any sense of joy. More so, the man finds himself entirely taken aback by the notion, some measure of horror and awe settling within him at this idea that so catch itself upon his tongue and yet it would seem the Monarch is determined to voice what perhaps even Sebastian did not- at least at first.
"To see life, to restore it, I think is perhaps....a little too grand. Surely it is not that."
That lack of conviction within his own voice is clear even to himself, a plethora of thoughts turning within his mind now as the man so attempted to find some understanding, or at least, some acceptance of what now seemed so clear before him, Sebastian observation of those children nearly missed before he turns his gaze upon the nearest child. How curious, that they should seem so bright and yet was it not sensible? Children were young, veritably filled with life, Dorian nodding softly in agreement with this- the man still very much in awe of the entirety of the situation before he feels his lover drawing him closer and all such thoughts are so abruptly forgotten with that kiss upon his forehead. His own simper finds his lips once more, Dorian leaning back into his companions chest now before reaching his arms upward to wrap about the man's neck in an almost playful fashion- his own lips pressing to the bottom of Sebastian's jaw.
"Hmm, perhaps I have, though my mind is so filled with a need to understand this that I shall be up all day with the wonder of it. There is much I need to know now and already, Mon Cher, I have an idea. Shall I share some of them with you?"
He smiles easily against his lover's cool skin, so inhaling that ever glorious scent of the man. His distraction now slowly seeing those lights fade away from the beings that surrounded them, returning both their vision to that far less astral plane. Some part of the Fae relieved to find that he would not be so eternally cursed to see such lights everywhere he went. At least- not when he did not desire to see them. His head now rests easily upon his companions shoulder, arms dropping until he finds both his boyfriends hands, knotting his fingers through Sebastian's own.
"I am curious as to whether you might glow, Bastian, if you were to take my blood and so be afforded life in a fashion, even if only temporary. I should like to try that- in the name of science, clearly."
That soft chuckle parts his lips once more, Dorian so lifting their entangled hands to allow Sebastian's fingers to brush along his own neck to that place he knew that pulse of his blood could be felt just below the surface.
"Bien que, ce n'est pas tout à fait si amusant que celui-ci, êtes-vous d'accord?" (Although, that one is not quite so much fun as this one, do you agree?)
He so moves their other hands, guiding Sebastian's fingers down to barely brush against his inner thigh at that vein he knew the man enjoyed the most despite how rarely he partook of it- that simper of amusement still entirely present upon his lips, Dorian so enjoying how he might tease his companion at any given moment. His words returning now to that quiet accented English.
"I have considered too, at least four ideas for ways in which we might enjoy that bowl of candy you left on your table, I worry for the practicality of my last idea but we shall test it anyway- if you're not opposed. I think perhaps, we should so finish our exploration of this Halloween and then we should go home so you might make good on your other promises."
His head tilts backward just so, meeting Sebastian's gaze now, one eye lifted in a near playful fashion as he so regarded his lover a moment, curious as to whether the man had any more of Halloween to show him this evening before they returned home. Sebastian's own mansion so having become that definition of that word for the King. Dorian, for the first time, so having made no effort at all to hide any of his actions from that crowd they were entirely in view of. What did it matter, truly, if any amongst that crowd knew he was entirely in love with the man he lent against? So much so, perhaps, that he had already considered the capabilities of his newfound powers, not for himself- but Sebastian alone. If he could restore a flower and a rabbit, could he restore the vampire to life? It would take more than blood, that he knew and yet surely it was a possibility. This idea however, kept at himself, at least for tonight.
