Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
I may not drink blood for a living but I know the blood from that dirty man can't taste all that good. Blood is blood, though, I guess. How would I know, right? It still makes me sick to my stomach knowing there's a vampire drinking from a dead human just feet from me. The council would be so disappointed that I wasn't able to take out the dangerous Were and the vampire all in one night. They're going to be even more upset if they find out I'm not even trying to kill the Were at this point. I want to talk to her but I know better than to try to talk sense to her while she's in this mood. She's got a taste for death and until she calms down or gets too injured to attack; she's not going to talk. I hate shedding blood when it's not necessary in my opinion, but I know that I have no choice. She'll kill me without a second thought. Every time I get a chance, I glance over toward the dead body, checking on the vampire to make sure he's not getting any thoughts of attacking either me or the Were. Even though she's attacking me, I'm still trying to save her. Funny how that works out. So far, he only seems to be concerned with his meal, even telling me to watch out when the Were attacks again. She manages to get my arm and it hurts like hell but I've got more important things to worry about. I'll wrap it up when I get a chance but right now I've just got to survive. As I grab another knife after sending one into the Were's side, I straighten up only to see the vampire has stepped away from the human's corpse and is now interested in seconds or thirds. Of course, he is. Stupid blood sucker. I can see his shadow hunkered down in the shadow of the buildings by the corpse, his blue eyes giving him away. As the Were starts to get to her paws, I turn my attention back to her, only to see a sudden web appear seemingly out of nowhere to entangle the dog and take her back to the ground in a yelping, snarling heap of pissed off dog. My eyes narrow suspiciously as the vampire makes a wide circle around me, heading straight to the net and the dog, my fist tightening around the knife. I can practically see him salivating from here, his nostrils flaring like a dog himself as he draws near to the dog and I lift my knife, ready as ever to use it. When he curls his lips up to show fangs at me, I only hold the knife more appropriately for battle, my lips tightening in a determined scowl. "Just like a parasite to think you can stake a claim on anything with blood running through its veins. Sorry to ruin your night, Dracula, but you'll have to go through me first." His second comment gets a scoff from my lips, eyes rolling as I deftly use my knife to slice a piece of my shirt off at the bottom and wrap it tightly around my arm, biting my lower lip to hold back more pathetic whimpers. Once tied tightly in a knot, I set my gaze back on him. "Don't pretend you care about my injuries. I'm here to finish a job and that's what I intend on doing. I want justice, not unneccesary death. I'm not here to cater to your needs and from what I saw, you already got plenty from the dead man. Now run along before you get some new knife wounds." I narrow my eyes daringly and the dog cries out for a new reason as the knife in her side suddenly pulls out of her and slices neatly through the netting before returning to my other hand. The dog kicks at the netting until she uses the new hole to get out, her jaws already snapping at the nearest thing to her, the vampire. I whistle to get her attention and she turns her head to me for a moment before there's a new look in her eyes. I know exactly what she's going to do and I make a break for it, running toward the two as she turns on her heels to take off in the other direction down the alley. She's looking for escape now, feeling like she's being ganged up on and she knows she's too injured to put up a decent fight. She's trying to survive. "Stay out of my way." I all but growl at the vampire as I race past him, even going so far as to shove my shoulder into his to move him aside. I want him to know that I'm nowhere near scared of him and if he knows what's good for him, he'll listen. "Wait!" I call out to the Were, hoping to cut her off in another alley but wondering if I'll be able to catch her. At least I have the blood droplets to trail her by. If only I had a bloodhound. I jump up onto dumpsters and over fences, all my running in the mornings definitely helping. I make it to a dead end and come to a stop, glancing down to see blood droplets on the ground and they look fresh. She must be close. There are tons of boxes and dumpsters here and I know she could be hiding in either form. I look down at my arm, scowling when I see the fabric is already soaking through. Kohl's going to kill me. Oh well. I glance around. "Hello? I don't want to kill you. You've been taking lives a lot lately. I just want to know why." |
