Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
He could hardly help the fashion in which he so attempted to usher his lover away from that volleyball game before any of those players might have the chance to find disdain with his having hurled a ball far to firmly at one of their team-mates. Sebastian's assurance that he might even be good at the game with a little practice met with an entirely playful roll of his eyes all the same. Sports had, perhaps, never truly been his forte- at least not beyond horseback archery and fencing. The art of swordplay one he had engaged readily and enthusiastically in during both his child and eventual adulthood years. Other sports however, had largely failed to captivate his attention. Those wrestling games his brothers had engaged in were wholly pointless to the Fae, along with that ball game that so involved violently tacking one another to the ground on a muddy field. Dorian having learned rather quickly that such games were but the perfect excuses for his older brothers to take out their frustrations at his existence upon him beneath that veil of 'play'. It was merely fortunate, perhaps, that the Monarch had forever been quick upon his feet when the moment called for it. The man often able to outrun his shorter, thicker set half-siblings whom so often tended to take after Ferdinand's heavier frame. Dorian casting aside such memories now to regard his lover once more, that simper tugging at his lips at the amusement Sebastian seemed to take in the entire situation.
"If you should care to teach it to me then perhaps I shall try it."
He mused softly, his gaze turned briefly back to that ball and net. The idea merely seeming to be to pass the ball successfully over it without touching the ground. How difficult could it surely be? His thoughts however were quickly captivated by another matter entirely, Dorian stepping neatly in front of his lover if only to subject him to that momentary lesson in flirtation. A wholly pointless lesson he was sure, given the nature of the vampires flirtatious exploits prior to himself and yet the Fae King was determined to display such playful adoration all the same, declaring that touch of his fingers entirely successful in gleaning the vampires attention. Not that such a thing was truly difficult really, Dorian so having taken delight for the past week entirely in distraction Sebastian with just such touches. His Consort so surely at fault in turn for stealing him away from his own work at any chance he got. That utter bliss of living together as wholly perfect as Dorian had anticipated. The very idea that Sebastian had been willing, and surely still was, to do whatever it took to spend a night within his bed so stirred that simper to his lips once more, the Fae chuckling readily in delight at such an admittance. Dorian so sure that he himself was hardly any different. He would surely have given the vampire anything he'd wanted that night if only to encourage those touches! Dorian assured little had changed.
It was the very memory of that first evening they had met however that had so prompted an almost quizzical look to touch his features, Dorian asking then just what it had been about him that drawn Sebastian's attention to begin with. The Fae King hardly found he should care in the slightest if it should so prove simple hunger had led his lover to him, Sebastian seeming almost momentarily uncertain as one hand raked through his hair before finally offering that admittance that it had been another man, another Fae, that he had met but a week prior that had resulted in his initial interest in Dorian himself. It was hardly the answer the Monarch had anticipated, that momentary surprise perhaps dancing upon his features and yet the man hardly found himself distressed by such an admittance in any fashion. After all, had this other man not so intrigued Sebastian with Fae to begin with the vampire might well have ignored him entirely! Not to mention such occurrences were near a year ago. Sebastian's efforts to press past that admittance were hardly missed, a simper of amusement tugging at the Fae's features at such efforts though indeed he made no move to halt the vampires determination to return to those lighter topics. A chuckle falling richly from his lips at his lover's assurance he had been the most handsome and the only one willing to engage Sebastian further then that mere taste. The Fae's words tainted with affection.
"Ah, but I have always been a little more experimental than most. You were one of the few beings of any species so willing to let me be as such- bold creature that you are."
Dorian had, after all, been relatively trapped within the 15th century for several centuries in turn. A time when neither women nor men were entirely willing to explore much outside of those basic actions between the sheets. Sebastian, in turn, had been more than willing to engage him in all of his ideas. How glorious that was! The sudden discovery of that promised sand dollar readily saw the Monarch reach for it in turn, taking that shell-like object from the vampire only to turn it over within his hands with gentle care, eyeing both surfaces while feeling that smooth shell. Dorian inquiring as to what it was made off to be so vastly different from any other shell- only to discover that his boyfriend held little idea, his own gaze moving to fall upon the man now, head shaking slightly in amusement.
"Do you know, you baffle me at times? How is it so you have spent two centuries of life upon this earth and have never sought to find out what they are made of? Does such wondering not pry at your mind? I could not handle not to know, in fact, I shall find out when we get home tomorrow."
Sebastian's ability to simply accept that existence of sand dollars without desiring to know exactly what they were was baffling to him, entirely endearing, yet baffling, his lip quirking in amusement before that soft tug on his shirt hurriedly saw his gaze look down. He had hardly anticipated a child, much less one whom sought to have his sand dollar and yet, truly, the Monarch hardly had it within him to upset a small girl by denying her something so simple as a shell- the man handing it gently to her a moment later with instruction as to be careful as she hurried back to her supposed 'castle'. The soft admittance of his adorableness followed by that sweet kiss upon his cheek stirred that almost dazzling grin to his own lips once more, his fingers entwining with the vampires own again.
"I should have hated to see her upset"
That tender-heart of his, it seemed, was inclined to act up on occasion- the pair making their way further down the beach now. That moment with the small child so seeming to stir at the memory within Dorian himself, regaling that impossible tale of Troy to his lover now, the vampire jerked to a sudden stop at that deliverance of information. The shock upon his features much akin to how Dorian's own had been that night within the bar when Troy had first told him of this news.
"I am quite sure, Mon Cher. I asked him many questions on this for I did not believe it possible. It is why I am telling you of it now. I wondered if you had ever heard off this amongst your own kind before. They have been to a doctor, he tells me, to have confirmed. She even became ill as some women are want to do in that condition. I did not even think your kind could get ill at all."
The surprise within his voice was surely clear. Dorian quite taken with this phenomenon if only for the impossibility of it as he regarded his lover still. His features frowning slightly in contemplation.
"I can only assume one of them must possess some sort of....affinity for this, though I did not say as such to Troy."
His own head shook softly, such a puzzle as this sure to enflame his curiosity if only for all that remained unanswered on the possibilities of the world. His disdain however, at their lack of being married surely clear even if he had hardly dared suggest as such to Troy himself. Dorian nothing if not a product of his time, the Fae so having grown within a world that was fixated upon those unions and the correct manner for doing all things. Sebastian's soft assurance that children born out of wedlock was now a norm of sorts seeing a look of genuine intrigue touch his features. How much the world had changed! That press off his lovers shoulder to his own stirring that grin once more, Dorian so unaware of those thoughts that touched his companion then upon his own ability, or lack thereof, to father any children. A reality Dorian himself had readily come to accept through his choice in Sebastian alone and one that he found hardly distressed him. Sebastian, after all, was all he needed within this world to be entirely content. That soft sigh parting his lips now.
"The world keeps changing without telling me, Mon Cher. I never thought I should live to see the day when children begat out of wedlock are seen as common. I suppose I am more sensitive to it then I should be, but I have lived as a bastard child- I know you know that Ferdinand cannot possibly be my Father."
He chuckled softly once more, this but the first time Dorian have ever admitted to those truths out loud and yet he was quite assured Sebastian had guessed at them all the same. Nor was he ashamed in any sense to admit such things to his own consort.
"I do not look a thing like the man, let alone the fact I am Fae and he is not- nor is my Mother. The Palace still treats that fact as if we must ignore it, they never dare mention it in my presence and those books of history rarely record it. I should not like to think of another child born with that perceived sin and yet, if what you say is true perhaps the world has changed for the better. Perhaps I should worry less over what is not mine to worry off."
He grinned softly then. Dorian quite assured he would always be inclined to care for others in some sense. It so came with the nature of being King- of having a country demand his care on some level. The Fae so halting beside that sand castle building class now, a small crowd seated upon the sand surrounding it, Dorian content to tug Sebastian down onto the sand beside him now to watch. The realisation that this sand castle building was clearly an art form seeming to strike him. Dorian gesturing to the castles now.
"Bastian, do you know how to do this?"
