Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Arlo James
See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch
He'd been expecting something of a response from showing his newfound companion that plethora of panda pictures that danced across the screen off his phone- but a statement that she was hardly an ordinary panda surely hadn't been it. Arlo's own blue gaze widened momentarily in surprise, the man glancing again at his phone, as if something he had never seen before might strike him as apparent from those pictures. After all, Sebastian must have seen something curious or strange right? Then again....hadn't he always known she was sort of unusual for a Panda? She was significantly more intelligent than he was sure most animals were and yet he'd put that down to her simply being trained or tame or something. He'd always assumed she had some sort of owner or that someone looked after her in some sense. Truthfully he'd probably hardly given the origins of his Little Bear the thought they deserved. His mind simply having made up this idea she was someone's pet and that he'd just befriended her, accepting that as truth without actually investigating it and yet how Sebastian could tell from just looking he hardly knew. That very question was upon his lips when the elder vampire moved to show him his own phone, Arlo glancing curiously at that picture of a Panda that Sebastian had googled only to compare it to those photos of his own Little Bear. Arlo focusing upon those eyes. He'd never truly noticed. Brown seemed such a normal colour for Panda eyes and yet Sebastian was right. They were supposed to be black. Maybe his Panda's were just brown? Maybe he just had a rare brown-eyed panda, maybe...
"A Were? Wait, wait, wait, doesn't that mean she can turn into a human? Oh my God, I've been putting her down my shirt!"
The realisation very near saw the man jerk to a halt as they walked, Arlo still staring at his phone now. A Were? A Familiar? What did that mean? Then again Sebastian could be wrong couldn't he? There was nothing to say Sebastian was right. If his Little Bear was secretly a person she would have told him by now wouldn't she? Surely she was just some sort of magically enchanted animal? The near endless amount of possibilities saw the younger vampire pause for a few more moments before pressing forward at last. Sebastian was wrong about this, he was sure of that. His pet just had unusual eyes. That was it. It had to be. Ha, to think, he'd nearly panicked. Arlo glanced a final time at his phone again, putting it away for now before focusing his attention on getting them into that party. Such a thing veritable child's play in comparison to his usual antics. The vampire moving to lead the way then towards that bar, setting about the task of finding them some actually decent alcohol other than that cheap beer that seemed to have become all the rage with college students.
Sebastian's assurance that he could surely out-drink him was met with a teasing snort of sorts, Arlo holding every belief the older vampire hardly knew what he was talking about, let alone to who. Arlo almost entirely sure that drinking might yet be one of his talents, one he'd only gotten better at since his fall into vampirism. Getting drunk was as easy as it had ever been, staying that way was notoriously more difficult though. After all, his relatively dead form seemed to be rather more resistant to alcohol, drugs and everything in between and anything he could get to work was undone the moment he fed again, replacing the blood in his system with that fresh, untainted liquid. Any buzz he'd managed to achieve veritably lost. Still, it hadn't stopped him testing the limits a little, at least in those very early days he rarely cared to even remember if only for the destruction he'd left in his wake. God, it was better not to think of that. Not here and now anyway. Arlo shaking those thoughts off as Sebastian assured him he'd lived through the 60s and 70s, the younger vampire offering him an almost blank look. History, after all, was not exactly his strong suit. Hell, he could remember only a handful of those high school classes he'd ever attended. Why those decades should be significant he (rather obviously) had no clue. That sudden offer off dinner met with an easy shake off his head and a wave of his hand.
"Nah bud, it's alright, I don't tend to stick around one city for long and besides I really don't eat. Not even just for fun. Patri- er- my Maker, he told me I'd enjoy food again eventually, even though I'd never need it. He reckoned the taste was still pretty good and vampires could still enjoy it once you got over the 'rocky' years as it called it, but I guess I ain't there yet. Regular food doesn't appeal to me yet. Not even the things I used to love."
His shoulders shrugged easily. Talking to another vampire about those things only other vampires surely understood was, well, nice really. Sebastian, he was sure, hardly needed to waste his money on him when he wasn't going to even appreciate it. Arlo entirely honest enough to admit to it, oblivious to the notion that the other man had perhaps held little intention of following through on it all the same. The blue-eyed man shifted easily then, reaching for his drink and handing Sebastian his own, Arlo downing that glass easily and with a method far too practised for his own good before that question of just which girl he liked saw his attention return to that crowd.
He felt almost predatory then, letting his gaze rove over those gathered people, flicking from one woman to the next before falling onto that tall, slender brunette woman whom had caught their attention when they'd first walked in. His hand gestured subtly then, directing Sebastian's attention to her in turn, the elder vampire downing his own shot, proclaiming Arlo would owe him more than that before gesturing to that girl in turn, assuring him it hardly mattered what he said- it was only for one night. Arlo felt both his eyes raise slightly. Well- someone was confident. The vampire half inclined to wonder just how long Sebastian had been playing this game to have that level of confidence in his own charm.
"Maybe it doesn't matter for you, James Bond, but I might end up getting bloody slapped."
Either Sebastian had far more faith then he should have in Arlo's own abilities to woo a woman, a task he had rarely performed sober, else whatever powers it was this guy had basically meant he really could say anything and it wouldn't have mattered. Arlo unsure as to just how much faith he wanted to place in those unknown gifts and yet- Sebastian was already moving. Arlo rising easily to follow after him. Sebastian walking right up to that pair of women, uttering those charming words before reaching to rest an arm around that blonde girl. Hell! Was there anything he couldn't do? He'd said exactly a sentence to her and she was already leaning into him. Arlo left momentarily dumbfounded. The man almost sure it had been going to take more work then this before that subtle gesture saw him step towards that brunette woman in turn. The girl looking almost expectantly towards him. Say something. Say anything. His mind still struggling to accept that this was happening at all.
"Hey Babe, what's a woman like you doing in a room full of boys?"
Well. It wasn't a lie. This party was full of teenagers. The only actual men in the room outside of that bar keep were Sebastian and himself. He shifted easily, leaning almost against that wall they stood near, not quite touching her and yet closer then he might have dared to stand without Sebastian's influence. The woman for her part, leaned almost readily back into him, one of her hands lifting to skate along the skin off his arm as she bemoaned that fact her companion and herself had just been talking about the lack of real men at the party. Hell, maybe he was better at this flirting thing then he'd ever given himself credit for- or Sebastian had complete control of her. Arlo hardly finding he actually cared either way. The man daring to rest a hand upon her waist, only to find the woman entirely willing to let him. That surprise surely clear in his features. His gaze lifting briefly back to Sebastian's own to mouth that 'wow' at him in clear appreciation for just what he was capable off. Now if only he could convince her to ditch that party with him and find somewhere more, well, private. Arlo hoping beyond hope Sebastian had some idea of how to do just that....
