Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
The Sun Also Rises
The very idea that they could so lessen their ages based on that technicality of the age at which they had ceased to age as opposed to how long either had existed was perhaps more pleasing to the Fae then it truly should have been. There was a distinct reason, he was sure, that so many of the elder supernaturals never afforded the knowledge of their age to others. No matter what sort of creature one was given to be, none truly desired to be older in any sense of the word. Dorian more than willing to embrace such vanity this evening, regardless of how foolish it was. The man so offering that realisation that such a change in age recognition placed Sebastian as the oldest of the pair, amusement tugging at his features as the vampire declared that six year difference was surely preferable to the near four hundred year expanse that truly existed. His grin only broadening as Sebastian suggested this was surely akin to cradle robbing, even Dorian wholly aware of such a term and how it applied, that soft chuckle slipping from his lips now before that amused agreement.
"Six is a far nicer number."
Age, he supposed, when it came to those of them whom held the ability to simply live for all eternity was a decidedly unimportant thing. Dorian assured it would hardly have mattered if the difference between himself and Sebastian was a single year or a thousand of them. Numbers no longer held any true sway over them aside from how pleasant or unpleasant they might appear on a printed page. The Monarch's attention was readily taken with that mention then off his ideal date, both Sebastian and himself so readily seizing upon that idea of a gallery. Dorian assured he could spend hours within those halls judging each and every art piece right down to the colours employed within and the individual strokes of the brushes. Art was an exquisite form of the expression of passion he was assured, music, for Sebastian, surely much the same. Dorian so having come to find a true pleasure in both. The Fae King content to allow that warm simper to rest upon his lips at even the thought before that inquiry as to whether or not he had been to either a concert of the movies seemed to prompt that more serious line of thought. He understood, to some extent, just what both those activities entailed and yet in a true display of his age the Fae found it wholly difficult to seize onto the concept behind either of them. Dorian hardly having experienced anything so loud as a true concert when his entire life had so consisted of music played at the fingertips of master musicians bringing to life those true classics. The Movies, outside of what Samantha had played upon their television was an equally unknown concept. Dorian unable to understand, truly, why anyone would believe such an activity was suitable for a date when the very purpose of the date, surely, was to talk with one another and so assess the character of the man or woman you dated. His gaze looked almost expectantly towards his lover then, that insatiable curiosity so imploring the vampire now and yet that explanation of concerts was decidedly unexpected.
The idea that the music of Chopin they had seen was considered 'upper-class' had hardly ever occurred to the Fae in any sense. After all, for Dorian at least, music had always existed in exactly that fashion. The Fae never having considered that most beings either could not afford such extravagance or indeed hardly cared too. This notion that most concerts had no seats saw his own features frown now, this seeming both uncomfortable and impractical, that look of confusion upon his features so contorting into something that resembled true and utter horror at the idea that people might jump up and down with one another in a large crowd as if this might somehow express delight in the music. To jump in a public place without truly good reason seemed but the height of rudeness to the Monarch. Did not those musicians become terribly distracted with such a thing? Did others in the crowd not find it bothersome? These true concerts seeming nothing but deplorable to him, Sebastian's own tone suggesting that he too hardly seemed to take pleasure in such an activity. Dorian almost wholly relieved if only for the assurance the vampire would surely not desire to take him.
"This sounds horrifying. I should not like to go at all. Have you ever been to one and...jumped?"
Even the idea of Sebastian doing something so ridiculous refused to exist with any clarity in his imagination, that small simper of amusement at the thought tugging slightly at his lips and yet the Fae found himself truly curious as to whether or not his vampire lover had ever performed such a silly sounding activity. His thoughts upon it ceasing only at that mention of movies and this idea that it involved a television the size of one of the walls of his palace! Such a thing was almost unimaginable to him, his features so momentarily awestruck at even the idea of it. Why on earth it involved such a big screen he hardly knew and yet this, in the least, hardly seemed near so ridiculous as those concerts. Dorian far more willing to embrace this idea of modern cinema as he nodded.
"I should very much like to see this large screen."
He agreed readily. The idea that this might be a suitable date still seemed decidedly obscure to his own thinking and yet there was little the Monarch would not do when Sebastian was so involved, the man entirely inclined to spend the evening merely sitting beside him if the vampire so desired to do as such. Any further thought upon those ideal dates was readily overtaken by that apparent declaration of his most favoured song. A song Dorian himself had never even heard and yet one that Sebastian found so truly displeasing that he was content to question the steadfastness of their love. Dorian so allowing one eye to raise in a clear amusement before inquiring as to whether or not that was truly so. Sebastian's head bobbing in that assurance that it was as Dorian so struggled to maintain that serious face. The man allowing an over-dramatic sigh to fall from his own lips as if accepting that declaration that this was surely the end of them before making some effort to bemoan how unfortunate it was to have their love ended by a song that featured an insect. The Monarchs near paralysing fear of them so evidently extended to the possession of prejudice for songs even mentioning the creatures. Sebastian so momentarily appearing almost dubious before proceeding to mention several other bugs as if they might somehow be less terrifying then fireflies. Dorian wholly assured they were not, his features so having fallen into that look of disdain all over again at even their mention!
"They are all terrible. I suppose I can see the appeal of butterflies, their colours are delightful and I will admit to enjoying some admiration of them but I do not desire that they touch me at all. Ladybugs I do not enjoy in any sense and caterpillars destroy our garden. They all have far too many legs, Bastian. Far too many. It is unnatural! One never knows if they may sting or bite or obnoxiously fly at you, the thought of them alone makes my hair stand on end- look."
The Monarch so held his arm towards his lover then if only to prove his point. Even that mention of bugs alone seeing his skin rise and those fine hairs lift upward in mere response to even the thought of insects! Horrid things. Dorian wholly oblivious to the idea such a fear might only prove amusing for the vampire. The Fae King so instead content to force such thoughts away from those terrible creatures and to a place far more engaging as he leaned forward so readily and steal that kiss from the vampire then. His lips so easily took that sensitive pillow of Sebastian's lower lip between his own, offering that more sensual kiss before pulling softly back, that groan of discontent hardly missed, before he offered his lover that flurry off soft kisses upon his jaw and neck, progressing every downward to his collarbone and chest. Sebastian's shirt easily shifted to offer him only more access to his skin as his free hand so moved to afford that truly sensitive part of the man but a fleeting touch of affection. The manner in which Sebastian so readily responded to that touch of his fingers entirely satisfying to him before Dorian so abruptly leaned away. Such intimate embraces after all, were surely meant for lovers alone. Had not Sebastian declared they surely could not be lovers while his favoured song so supposedly remained 'Fireflies'? Clearly Dorian need change his mind....
That look of shock upon the vampires features was hardly missed as Dorian so slipped from that couch and strode from the room and yet the Fae was gone but barely a minute before returning with cupcake in hand and that ever-impish grin upon his features. His ruse was surely given away in that moment as he tumbled back onto the couch. Sebastian so clearly already having noticed that treat within his hands as Dorian slipped that glazed cherry between his lips, enjoying that sweet taste before running a finger through that thick, creamy icing only to lick it from his finger. His silver gaze glanced upward then, so assuring that man he adored that unless he could so be declared his lover again he surely could not share his treat with him. That soft huff that left the vampires lips so readily brought that bright grin to the Monarch's own. Sebastian hurriedly seeming to find a final question to answer as that momentary surprise touched the Fae's features at the idea his favoured coffee was something the magazine had actually gotten right. Dorian leaning forward then to check that offered page and the conformation that they truly were meant for one another. His head bobbing softly.
One hand reached effortlessly forward to gently take that magazine from his lover then, Dorian reaching to place it upon the coffee table before allowing himself to slide right back onto Sebastian's lap, that ready grin upon his features now, that cupcake still neatly held in one hand as his silver gaze met that blue of his Consorts own.
"You should know by now, Mon Cher, that I would never leave you wanting- not truly. I have an utterly hopeless addiction to you."
There was little but affection within those words and too that ready touch of amusement, Dorian dipping his finger back into that icing once more before lifting it, this time, to Sebastian's own lips to allow the vampire to try it. That sweetness entirely appealing.
"You could have gotten every single one of those questions wrong and I think, somehow, I would still have loved you entirely."
It was easy then to close that small distance, his lips finding Sebastian's own again in that utterly sweet kiss, his figure leaning readily into the man's own if only to increase that closeness and contact between them- that soft sound of satisfaction stirred from within his own throat as he so readily encouraged Sebastian to deepen that kiss in just the way they both enjoyed.
