Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

Residences

He couldn't help but imagine her as being larger than life, especially compared to the tiny apartment he now called home. Her mansion's bathroom was as big as his whole apartment and yet she seemed comfortable here. Maybe it was just cause he was here or maybe something else. He didn't know. All he knew is he could never see her living in an apartment this size. Not that he was calling her snobby or something. No, it was more her free spirit that made these walls seem more like a cage that was closing in. She needed room to grow and fly. If not her mansion, maybe an RV that could be her home anywhere she wanted to be. Even an old VW bus with peace signs and flowers on the sides made more sense because it meant she was free. Free to do whatever she liked in life. He didn't know her parents, only what he'd been told, but he could only imagine her mother was as beautiful as she was. She probably got her free spirit from her mother, whether it was in her nature once or not. He believed that her stubbornness probably came from her father because from what she'd told him, her father was am ambitious, determined man.

He wanted to provide for her more than anything. It wasn't that he wanted to make more money than her or make her stay at home while he had the job or anything so domestic or suffocating. No, he loved the glow in her eyes when she talked about the bistro. It was her baby and it made her happy. That was worth anything. It wasn't about finances really at all or status. Even if she worked at a diner to make ends meet, he still would have wanted to be better for her because he felt worthless. He was a different man than he was when he met Becca. Back then, he played the bad boy game and he acted like he didn't care what anyone thought. He was between jobs and Becca had a good steady job. He still tried to pay on dates and find odd jobs to do so he'd keep money in his pockets. He used some of that loan shark money to buy the ring for her. He didn't seem to care too much about his future and what it might bring cause anything was better than where he was right then.

But with Adelaide, he wanted a better future for both of them. He didn't ever want to see shame or pity in those beautiful green eyes. He wanted her to be proud of him just as he was so god damn proud of her. She was quite the seductress when she wanted to be, it would seem. He'd never seen her like this before, but then this is the first time he'd had her in his apartment alone before. She made it all too clear what she wanted and he wanted it too but not at the expense of what they had. He didn't want her to think he was using her, or making her a conquest. He didn't want her to ever think he was just in it for the money or bragging rights or another notch on the bed post. She was too important to lose over something so stupid as a misunderstanding on where she stands in his life. That was the only thought keeping what little shred of control he still had from completely ripping apart. He didn't want to hurt her, ever. She was making it very hard to turn her down though.

When he told her about the warring between his body and his mind, she let her hands move lower and he inhaled sharply through his teeth, his lower half practically throbbing. She purred more teasing words at him. He made himself exhale before speaking in a low whisper. "Not much, at the rate you're going, darling. I'm only asking for mercy." His gaze fell to hers, softening, pleading even. He gave her the tour and she made a time for him to cook for her. He agreed and she said it's a date. He smirked, obviously liking the sound of that. She looked beautiful draped out across his bed. He could get used to that. She was stepping up the game as well, torturing him to the point that he needed some distance between them to clear his head. He poured the drinks and handed her a glass, easily putting away three glasses by the time she sat down on the couch, facing the kitchen. She had walked away with all the air in the room, stealing his breath as he cracked the glass he was holding because he was too preoccupied watching...other things.

She looked so smug sitting there, watching him cook. It was all he could do to focus on the hamburger meat and not burn it while he felt her eyes watching him every step of the way. She was so beautiful. And she was here, in his apartment, practically begging him to take her to bed. God, he wanted to. His nerves were frayed, his self discipline all but shattered. He was sure she was used to fancy dishes like they serve in Parisian restaurants, dishes that you put sprigs of parsley on just for show and stuff. He didn't know how to do any of that but he could make a pot of chicken and dumplings to die for. Hopefully she would like it too. He used to imagine him and Becca with kids some day. He always wanted to be a father. He wnated to show someone how reliable he could be, how worthy compared to the trash his own father thought he was. He wanted to be the father his own wasn't, be the one who played catch with his son in the yard and took his daughter to dance rehearsals and cheered her on from the sidelines, unashamed to be the dad wearing pink.

He had a vague question cross his mind of whether Adelaide wanted children some day but of course they were nowhere near that part in their relationship. She told him that she had no siblings before she added that she didn't really have friends besides Townsend and how they met when she was six. His brow rose in surprise. He knew they were close but he had no idea they'd been friends for that long. He turned casually back to her. "That's a long time. And you two never....felt differently about each other?" That was his lame way of asking if she'd ever had a crush on Townsend or vice versa. He knew there were plenty of friendships where a guy and a girl could be close, like siblings, and never harbor romantic feelings for each other. He was only curious because Adelaide was beautiful and Townsend was smart and reliable. Did they never wonder what being with the other would be like? She told him a little more about her childhood, how she liked climbing trees and having adventures. He smirked.

"You would have been my perfect idea of a best friend then. Screw that, I would have been asking you to marry me the first time you played in a mud puddle with me." He chuckled, giving her a teasing wink before she asked about him and his sister. He looked back at the meat cooking, his lips setting in a thoughtful line before he shook his head. "We were too far apart in age to really hang out much as kids. She had her friends and they were into girly stuff like makeup and going on dates by the time I had free rein to come and go. When I was a toddler, I heard that she liked to pretend I was her kid and would pamper me and show me off to her friends but when she got more into her teen years, baby brothers were gross and she talked to me as little as possible cause we had so little in common. I wanted to catch frogs and play in the creek and she wanted to wear mini skirts and impress the cute guy down the road. It just didn't mesh."

He shrugged. He could see the look in her eyes that said he didn't have to reveal more than he wanted to. The idea only made his lips quirk cause he couldn't seem to stop telling Adelaide all of his dirty little secrets. He just felt so open with her. When he asked about her drink, she said she wouldn't mind another and he nodded, coming over to get the glass from her. "Coming right up." As he reached for the glass, his hand brushed her fingers lightly and his eyes sparkled as he took the glass over to the counter and poured her another. She said she wanted to be rebellious and eat in the living room and he smirked, bringing her plate in one hand and her drink in the other. He gently held out both to her before bringing his own plate and drink in as he carefully sat on the couch next to her, though not near enough to be touching. He didn't want to be all up in her space. "Being rebellious is smiled upon in this house so you're in luck." He winked and took a bite of his burger.
