Anacosta Heights

Hawethorn Village

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

living like we're renegades

long live the pioneers
rebels and mutineers

She was out of place, with herself, with the world, and perhaps that is all that qualified her to be found in a place such as this. River Dale tended to be the catch all for those who had nowhere else to go, and that was the essence of her life right now. She had needed an escape and running back to Sacrosanct had seemed like the only viable option. She had her reasons, reasons that haunted her every step it seemed, and she wasn't sure if those would ever go away, but for now perhaps she could find a distraction in unexpected company. He was relaxed, seemed easy going, and had a self-deprecating humor that managed to make her feel at ease quickly despite the abrupt start of their meeting. Perhaps that is what led her to toss out a haphazard if not partially empty invitation to come back once she had time to set up the apartment. The last time she lived here she had managed quite the eclectic style by shopping at antique markets and thrift stores and picking up items on corners intended for the dump in the richer parts of town. Still it would take time, but maybe that would be a nice distraction as well.

His response was as noncommittal as her offer had been, the toothy grin he flashed her way not missed along with the additional two fangs he seemed to sport on his bottom row of teeth. Curious, but not something she felt compelled to ask him about necessarily, at least not now. You grew accustomed to the variation of monsters in Sacrosanct, there seemed no end to what they could be or do like a four-fanged teleporting vampire in your living room. Hopefully her nervousness would fade and she could enjoy it as she once had. For now she focused on running her fingers through the cats fur, quirking an eyebrow in amusement and shock as the story of a cat which wasn't a cat unfolded. She couldn't resist a harsh blurt of laughter at the end when he stated that his "cat" was now his girlfriend. How in the world. "Well that has to be the most interesting story of how two people started dating that I've ever heard. Points to her for playing the long game I guess. Still, if she was your pet for a year I guess she knew quite a bit about you by that time. I think I've only ever seen a red panda in a zoo down in Atlanta..." Her head shook incredulously, honestly somewhat doubting the legitimacy of this story but he didn't seem to be making it up. "Something to tell your kids one day" She rolled her shoulders in amusement, still in disbelief about the entire situation. One thing no one could ever mistake her for while shifted was a house pet.

Arlo at least seemed to find it amusing, though she was beginning to think there wasn't much he wouldn't be willing to laugh at. She nodded politely at his response to her job hunting, taking mentally noting the options he put out there, a few which she had already considered, but still appreciating his input. "Yea I was thinking about the Ark, always a crowd there from what I remember." She knew the Ark could be the best chance she would get, but she was still a little hesitant to return there after the last meeting she had in that steel monster. "A musician, huh? Anyone I would have heard of?" She wasn't that in tune with the music scene, and his name hadn't struck a chord, but you never knew and that made for good conversation. Right?

Her question after what alienated him so from his own kind, that seemed to prefer the company of their own more often than not as far as she knew, gained another of his famous shrugs. She might have teased him about it if not for his response after wards. Her dark brows furrowed slightly, this information on types of vampires wholly new and foreign to the girl. She couldn't miss the touch of venom in his voice as he ended his explanation, gaining an intrigued look from her hazel eyes. It seemed he wasn't too fond of his own kind, something she understood in a way. Were's were by nature pack creatures, but snow leopards were not and it was a juxtaposition that often plagued her. "Huh, that's a new one. Going from the hunter to the hunted will fuck with you though." There was too much knowledge in her voice that she wasn't able or willing to hide, things too recent but she didn't really feel like dealing with it now. "Still, you think everyone would like a good bite now and again." She reached again for that sarcasm with a light laugh and a playful wink, always a good defense when things threated to be too serious.

Still she was almost glad for the distraction he apparently found in the crumpled-up papers she had pulled from a dumpster to pad her boxes. It wasn't until he turned it toward her, making some offhanded comment about a royal wedding that she took any interest in it. Stepping a few feet forward to get a better look until she recognized one of the two faces that smile back from the black and white picture. Her sharp intake of breath a byproduct of surprise as she moved to take the paper from his hands. She cut Arlo a sharp look and a roll of her blue-green eyes at his comment. "Well, we are the weaker sex they say" Her only retort in an offhanded, distracted kind of way as she scanned the article with furrowed brows. She had known something was different about Sebastian when she he had found on her the streets of Sacrosanct once more only a few nights ago, but he hadn't seemed too concerned about filling her on major life events and she was too willing to be distracted by what he offered to care much. It was still rather jarring to see it printed in black and white before her now.

She barely noticed as Arlo stepped away and planted himself on the dilapidated couch that had been left by the previous tenant, her mind still reeling a bit with the news as she took in what the article had to say. Not terribly much, mostly regarding the extravagant affair that had taken place only months before, and trying to fit it against what she knew of Sebastian. Honestly, there wasn't much. Their relationship had always been rather shallow, despite the connection they shared on some mostly physical level, he was probably the closest she had come to a friend in this city though and it was surprising. "Must be nice to be important enough to have the cash for that." Her voice was perhaps a bit bitter, her own situation standing in sharp contrast not that she was one to take charity but she couldn't deny it would be nice not to wonder how she'd get through next week. She folded the newspaper in half, hiding the too happy faces of the new couple as she wandered into the makeshift living room and leaned against the window sill as Arlo pulled up the internet article on the man. Grayson hopping down off the counter to saunter over to the coffee table before placing himself rather noticeably in the middle of it. The cat liked to keep an eye on things.

Her gaze jumped back to the vampire as he started prattling off a lengthy bit of information regarding the apparent Fae King of Spain. "God that is a mouthful. Can you imagine trying to fit all of that on a tax form? What hell." She shook her head as she laughed slightly. In the deep south names were a big deal, but even all of that was extravagant by their tastes. The next time Arlo spoke there was no denying the touch of some kind of sympathy in it that she hadn't expected, but it made her resolve to cover up whatever emotion she had been showing; though she herself wasn't sure exactly what she felt at the moment. "Yea, he's always been fun to be around." Truth, even if it wasn't all of it, her time with him had no doubt been somewhat different than Arlo's she assumed. "I've been out of town for a couple of years, not somewhere I got much news so guess I was out of the loop. I ran into Sebastian the other day, but he didn't get around to mentioning it. Those people always attract others of the same type though, huh?" They seemed rather suited if only by the male model level of suave that radiated off the frontpage of the newspaper. Saying she had been out of the loop regarding news was an understatement considering what she was coming from, but that information she held tight in her chest. "How do you know them?" Easy enough to redirect the conversation she hoped.
