Anacosta Heights
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Hold on to this lullaby; even when the music's gone
When he confirms her thoughts on the kitchen she all but bounces with excitement, it is a place that she truly enjoyed being besides having her nose in a book. While she wasn't above hunting for her meat, that's all she had done, she had a surprising green thumb too. Her family kept a green house on their property and she split her time between the gardens and the kitchen. She refrains from opening all the cabinets and fridge to take inventory, instead following him up the stairs.
The bedroom holds fascination for her, the fact that it held a door was even more fascinating for her. "I can close the door?" She asks as she peers into the closet to take stock of the size. It may have seemed like an odd question to Frost but for her it was significant, "Papa took the door off my bedroom when I was seven. I tried climbing the property walls and broke my arm." This is all she offers so far as she pulls her head out of the closet. She walks the perimeter of the room now, running her fingertips over the surfaces to leave her scent behind. As he reiterates what constitutes as an emergency she could only nod, "Okay. I can do that." She knew this would be a change for her, there would be no sister to snuggle up with and no Nathaniel to chase away the darkness.
As he tells her to wait where she was she does this, continuing to run her fingers over the surfaces of the room and even going so far as to sit upon the edge of the bed. When he returns and tossing the bundle of clothing she catches it with ease and wastes no time in stripping out of the blood stained clothing and neatly folding it up. She knows she should just toss these, but it seemed like she wanted to hold onto at least one thing from her old life. Pulling on the clothing he had given her she felt like she was swimming in them, the pants she had to roll so she wouldn't trip all over it, as she knows she would, the shirt itself was big and she had to tuck this into the waist of the pants in order to keep them on her hips.
She knows she must look ridiculous but there had been no other way to make sure the clothing stayed on her body. She bounds down the steps with minutes to spare, her hair twisted up into a ponytail atop her head. The fact that he locked the door was intriguing for her too; they'd lived isolated so there were no locks to their doors. She keeps up easily with him, two steps for every one of his. She is noting the way they were going, directions so she would be able to find her way home should she need to.
She follows him readily through the glass doors but pauses just inside, staring at the amount of people that seemed to surround them. He is three steps away, then five and she is hurrying after him, the sounds and scents seeming to over stimulate her senses. When he moves towards this strange contraption she could only stop and stare at it, the others around them moved around them to step on and it took them away. She is crouching down at the bottom where the steps seemed to appear and as soon as one appeared she slapped her hand against it, trying to figure it out. She looks up at him when he calls her name, her eyes are wide, "Butâ€"it moves" she says, wonder in her voice.
Still crouching, she manages to stick a foot on the step that appeared, learning quickly to put her other foot next to it. She got maybe a few inches up before it sunk in that it was taking her to some unknown destination, "I don'tâ€"" She pauses and turns to try and walk back down, "I don't like it" she says, it was part pout, part whine as she tries to make her way back to the bottom while keeping herself in the middle of the stairs and avoiding the escalator walls. "Why is it not working? Frost, what is this accursed thing?" This new fear that came over her was different, her brain contemplating just launching herself over the railing heedless of injury to herself if only it would get her off this ridiculous thing that wanted to eat her.
