Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Twenty five years of no sex was easy. She had gone far longer in her time. Amelia enjoyed the feeling of uttermost control. She decided when and with whom she had sex with and in the fashion she did so. Many would think it near impossible to go that long between couplings, but it really wasn't that difficult for Amelia. There were other things in life that brought her pleasure, other things that made her happy. However, now that she had found Troy and she loved him with everything in her, she couldn't imagine withholding herself form him for twenty-five minutes let alone twenty five years. It was strange what love did to her. Never once did she think she would find the perfect man for her and hell, have a child with him. She had always imagined that she would live her life relatively alone. No one had captured her heart as completely as Troy did.
The longer the conversation went on, the longer Amelia began to think that such an in-depth discussion might have been inappropriate. She could sense the way Dorian, and even Sebastian, felt a little uneasy about her bold statements. She was mostly a modest girl (or appearing so), but Amelia had always been a little on the liberal side, always choosing to speak the truth over trying to hide or alter it. She was an open book, for the most part. She had to be, after all. She had Tenley to worry about. The child would want for nothing, knowledge included. Amelia would ensure that her daughter asked every question that popped into her head, no matter how obscure, and she intended to answer every one in detail, no matter if they were in public or at home.
At Dorian's clarification that they became pregnant after one union, Amelia nodded in response. "It would appear that way." She looked to Troy with a haphazard smile, enjoying the feel of the gentle squeeze on her thigh. It reminded him that she was still present, still alive, still at this very dinner. He grounded her in every sense and just knowing that he was sitting beside her made her feel comfortable sharing the inner most workings of their lives.
However, as they began to talk about how long it had been since Amelia had last been with anyone, it did not need to be uncovered that she had surprised both Dorian and Sebastian. Even Dorian's attempt to hide his surprise had her smiling at him. "It is alright to be surprised, it's a strange idea that one can be able to withstand desire for so long. I promise you, it makes it that much better when you finally partake in such activities." She leaned over to Tenley's plate, to help cut up some more of her dinner so the child could continue to eat. "I learned self-control from a very young age. Before Troy...I had not fed from the source in almost four or five centuries. I feel like control is a hard thing to accomplish so I practice it daily." There was a reason Amelia kept warmers filled with blood donated by her multitude of donors. She preferred to feed this way. She did not appreciate the animalistic way vampires fed from humans. Her feeding off Troy was simply sexual in nature. She did not do so with anybody. She craved his blood more than anything, but she kept her desires in check. She never acted on a whim. Every feed was carefully planned out, it had to be.
She listened quietly as Dorian explained that her ability may have been simply dormant, just waiting to be uncovered. The idea that Troy was the one to unearth such an ability made her love the man even more, even though she might hate the fact that they had to be so careful when having sex with one another.
Birth control was something she had been researching, but nothing worked as a pill or injection for vampires. The only thing that seemed to decrease the chance of pregnancy was abstinence and barrier methods. As much as they both hated condoms, there was no way in hell she'd abstain. "We use those methods, but neither one of us cares for them. We are looking for an alternative method. My physician is unsure what methods would work for a vampire. Other than trialing all of them, there's no real answers." The risk of trying a pull or an injection or insert of some kind, was if they did not work for vampires, she would end up with another child, something she wasn't quite ready for. She loved Tenley, but it was stressful enough raising one child that should not even exist.
Sebastian spoke then, talking about the possibility of solving her birth control issue with a supernatural solution by use of a spell or potion. She was intrigued. She wanted to be able to love Troy without the need for a condom. They both hated the way condoms felt. If there was some other solution that might work, she wanted to know more about it. "Do you know of a witch who might can help?" Amelia didn't know many witches, certainly not many with the power or know-how to accomplish a task such as the one she was asking. She looked to Troy, hoping he might know of someone as well. He knew one when she was injured by the arrow of a dark hunter. The injury still pained her from time to time, but that witch had saved her life. Perhaps there was another somewhere that could help.
