Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

Another night in this carnival of souls

Adrien nodded near solemnly, for everything they were gifted and cursed with, quick healing was certainly a plus side. "It will take a moment for your body to adjust to these changes, but your neck. It should be healed enough to remove the bandage." Adrien voiced, slipping from his lips near gruffly as he considered the newly turned hunter with assessing eyes. That hesitation was clear upon the artist's features.. as if that information he had been given was too much. It would take time he suspected. Adrien was the same way and he was expecting that turn. It took a few long months to accept those changes that had occurred to himself, and yet everyone was an individual. He said nothing, simply watching as Alistair reached for the thick bandages upon his neck. He might have not been able to see it.. but the man could feel it. After that food, he could stare at it all he wanted.. marvel in the way his body had healed. The first time... Adrien could remember exactly what he had felt.... Astonishment.. and fear all at once.

One would wonder why anyone would fear this and yet it made perfect sense to him. Fear that he had become something else... no... someone else during that transformation. He still wasn't quite so sure if he hadn't and yet he was firm in his belief it was better than vampire bait. He waited only as long as that recognition to filter across the man's face. He was healed. "Impressive, isn't it?" Such a loaded question.. one he hardly expected an answer to as he already knew..

It was not long before dinner was placed before them.. that sustenance would only aid in the aftermath of that change, those changes sure occurring as they spoke. His body undergoing a huge transformation and he would certainly feel it for some time. He would certainly need more food, more water, more of everything especially during that first week. The man would be entirely ravenous!

Adrien encouraged Alistair to eat.. He needed his strength. He could see the confusion once more upon his face. How many questions must have been swirling through his mind! Those emerald eyes seemed to watch him fixated, as though searching for a lie... or simply answers for all those burning questions. He wished he could convey the all.. for him.. He brought that drink to his lips, watching him try to quench a thirst that was certainly near unquenchable. He shifted slight, uneasily... Taking a moment to consider the best way to explain. "As a dark hunter... we have gained skills to make us a true threat against those that are a threat to not only ourselves but humans.." He paused a moment. Perhaps he could see some sort of obligation in that gift.. they had both been bestowed. God, he was.. really.. really bad at this.. He was tanking.. he could feel it.. He had never anticipated to turn someone.. nor the responsibility attached to it. He paused to take a bite of food, his own hunger clawing at him. It had been a long 24 hours.

The dark-haired hunter offered him that question as he ate his own food, it was no masterpiece but it was palatable and most importantly, nutritious. It was clean, fuel for himself and Alistair, full of protein, veggies and complex carbs. What you put in.. you certainly get out. A testament Adrien truly believed. The older hunter having possessed a discipline routine most would balk at. Adrien seemed eager to question him about that southern sounded vampire.. that monster could barely talk coherently! How could you with a mouth full of fangs? How intent Adrien was for answers.. and admittedly it was perhaps not the best topic to have so soon.. but that vampire knew his sister's name. That... he found... utterly disturbing. What kind of shit had she been getting into herself now. He swore... everytime he looked away for even a moment she was falling into yet another dangerous situation. It was like she fed off it. How desperately he was in the dark to the truth.. those intricate connections that bound them all in some twisted charade. His mind combed through the details he knew.. like that cat.. and location... Something to ponder upon later, he was sure. It was enough to cause his own head to spin. That mention of flushing out a human with a stupid cat in a box. It was an old baiting tactic... simple.. but effective. "He was using that cat as bait.. At least now you know... you fell for the oldest trick in the book." He said simply. It was hardly his fault.. How was he to know a vampire was fishing for his next meal? How he hated this city.. Adrien took another big bite, chewing it once more as he considered those other questions.. back upon the topic of immortality.

"To be an immortal for us.. means.. so long as we don't get decapitated or stabbed in the heart, or stabbed in the brain.. we can live forever. I am... not really that old... I am 34.. I have been a Dark hunter for 15 years. Or something like that.." Had it really been that long? "For about... five years I trained under the man who turned me. It took me three years of tracking him down as a human.. before he even looked at me as a prospect.. Sometimes we choose this life and other times.. it is chosen for us.. But so long as we get a good understanding not be a total idiot with a death wish." He could practically see the endless questions tumble within the other man's mind.. He hoped he didn't try to get too technical with it.

"You regenerate faster, you will no longer get sick or age.. so long as you don't get yourself killed.. you will live forever. We will live forever. Beyond that.. we are stronger and faster.. we possess vampire strengths without... becoming like them. We are not animals.. bound to the night, we can move freely during the day.... Look I know.. this is all a lot to take in." He paused.. how do you make any of this sound better.. He shook his head solemnly. "I will help you.. as much as you need.." Adrien added.. after all there was a responsibility... a newfound weight he had to carry.

There was no pressure to become that hunter. Adrien had chosen that life for himself, it was a no brainer for him... "But if you should decide.. you want more.. more than just being in control of yourself... you might be able to help people. Perhaps stop someone like you from getting mauled by a rogue vampire." He shrugged almost nonchalantly. God.. what a damn mess this was. How the hell was he going to help some newbie hunter? Maybe he was out of his depth. The counsel already despised him for not really being one for following the rules... what were the rules on changing someone? Were there any? Maybe he should pass him on to someone else.. But who? They were already overburdened... A frown pressed upon his brow..

Perhaps.. he was the wrong man to help this newfound hunter.. and yet... how alone his life had been prior to this. How... aimless it had been. Those monsters kept coming and he kept cutting them down alone... how many years had he lived this chosen life. Could he go on this way? He could not deny there was a yearning for more.... Wasn't that what it meant to be human? To find your tribe? He didn't even know this man and yet... he wanted to promise him that he could be some kind of mentor. Who the fuck was he fooling? All he knew.... Was he sure as hell wasn't going to be able to cover all of this in one night.

In that slight lull of conversation as both men nearly finished their meal. Adrien could hardly help his own thoughts drifting to the fae woman he had been visiting her home every night. Was he some kind of stalker? It was hardly the appropriate time.. and yet... his mind seemed almost preoccupied upon that latest note within his pocket. Such poor timing! What was wrong with him? He was turning into some lovesick puppy, like a teenage boy with a highschool crush.. He didn't really have anyone he could ask for advice and seeing as Alistair wasn't exactly freaking out anymore.. perhaps it couldn't hurt to ask... right? He should have anticipated the reaction from the hunter... that utter disbelief that found the artists.. features. Fuck.. he knew he shouldn't have said anything.. he regretted those words almost instantly.. How... socially unprepared he was for this. He nearly snatched the note back from that table before the man sitting opposite of him grabbed it. "I... uh.. I don't really have anyone to ask.. I thought... maybe.. you know what nevermind. This was a bad idea.." Adrien fumbled.. running a frustrated hand through this dark brown locks.. the man across from him doing the same. If he could turn back time and erase the embarrassment of it all, he would have!

But even then, after a moment Ali did the most surprising thing and answered... Adrien's eyes widened, a glimmer of hope flashing within those shadowy purple eyes that seemed to peer at the man across from him in noticeable surprise. "Oh?" Does this mean he had a chance? Should he even be trying to ask out a fae? This was all kinds of fucked up and yet... he seemed almost sheepish in those moments. Hell.... He even fucking blushed! "Audi is.... just a girl.." He cleared his throat suddenly, straightening his back slightly as if trying to return almost business like. He attempted to change the topic, truly.. he wanted to...his gaze lowered to his near empty plate. Well.. he should have changed the top and then he didn't. "She's a woman I saved from a vampire.." His words were a matter of fact but his... thoughts ran rampant with an image of her... Oh the mess he had made...
