Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

When I'm on my own, my fallback is always stealing. It's easy and second nature for me. No one has to get hurt and no confrontations. I'm less queasy about upfront conversations than I was before but I'm no less eager to go up and confront someone for food. I know I could buy some but I've never really been in a position to build up wealth so money is hard to come by unless I steal that too and I'd just rather skip dealing with counting anything and just take what I really want, a meal when I'm hungry.

Raven was teaching me about right and wrong at one point, about paying for food so I can sit and enjoy it. That's all well and good when you've got friends to support you but when I was on my own, I didn't have that guidance so I used when I know best. With my family pack, I was the best thief because of my power to be silent, no matter the speed. I knew if I could get out of eyesight then it was gold.

Tonight I've chosen two ribeye steaks for my prize, my nose twitching as I sneak through the hall of the apartment building, my fluffy tail curled up behind me. I slip through the door easily right behind the couple, hiding under the tables and behind chairs as they maneuver through the apartment with their groceries. I watch from behind the sofa as they put everything away and chat with each other, laughing and leaning in for chaste kisses. They must have been a couple for a while. My nose wrinkles, thinking of Alexander and wondering what he's doing right now. But I push the thoughts away and focus on the prize.

They lay out the steaks and go into the living room to watch some TV so I make my move, slinking around the other side of the sofa to keep out of eyesight then I grab the meat package from the counter and leap out the open window onto the fire escape balcony. I glance back only once but I don't hear shouting so they must still be watching TV. Nice. Grinning around the steak package, I head down the stairs then leap to the ground when I'm close enough, using the alley as cover to tear into the package and eat my dinner. Licking my lips, I shake out my coat and start to shift back. It's easier to maneuver through town as a human instead of a fox.

Of course I don't have the skills down to shift back with clothes so I've been stowing some around town. Luckily I have a stash down this alley so it's easy enough to find the hidden clothes and slip them on. My back is to one exit though I didn't hear anyone and I'm too focused on getting dressed quickly to use my sense of smell. It's only as I'm getting my pants situated that I hear something behind me. I spin around quickly to see someone standing at the other end of the alley. I straighten up and clear my throat, tucking a few stray strands of hair behind my ear. "Hi, didn't see you there. How long have you been standing there? See anything you like?" My lips twitch a little with humor as I raise a brow.
