The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

With one hundred floors and a 125-foot spire, the Starlight Tower rises high above the Sacrosanct skyline. More than just a landmark, the Starlight Tower offers a unique mix of restaurants, shops, and offices spaced throughout the building. Organized into nine verticle zones, each of which features a sky lobby and a light-filled garden atrium which merge the upscale interior with a faux landscaped exterior setting.
I nod. "I stand corrected. A good queen should certainly be persistent." I'm only teasing her about Dorian. I know better than to waltz into a queen's domain and make a first impression by challenging her right hand. Never the smart move unless you've got a queen who enjoys displays of power and I can tell Sam is not like that in the slightest. I nod in acknowledgement. "Good to know. I can be a very friendly guy when I put my mind to it. Scout's honor, my queen." I make a show of bowing down before her all while keeping one arm around her waist to continue holding her up in the sky. I smirk and shrug. "Yeah, I guess you could say I've got a weakness for the sky but believe it or not, I don't get out as much anymore. Too dangerous to show your true self so it's a rarity that I get to stretch my wings. Consider yourself special to see such a sight." I give her a playful wink. I admire her quick decision. "You're right, you're not. It's not very often you find someone so willing to accept change and go with it instead of fighting back. It's not saying that you can't find some things in life just for yourself though, something you enjoy that doesn't have to do with being what you are." I raise a brow, leaving her to puzzle out whether I'm talking about being a fairy or being a queen or both. I see a twinge of something in her face and my brow furrows. I've always been observant. I guess I'm on a touchy subject, as I suspected. I nod. "Maybe you can make something for me some time. Though I am rather fond of my leather jacket. A new shirt perhaps? I promise to wear it with pride." I give her a cheeky grin though my eyes are genuine. I bet she's good at anything she puts her mind to. She falters in her dance when I ask about family but I step in close to make up for it, easily adjusting to taking more of her weight just as I did in the beginning, continuing to guide her so that she's never in danger. Even as I do so, I give her my full attention, eyes glimmering with understanding. I know it must be different for someone who comes from a human past. I was born as I am therefore I can never fully appreciate what it is to change and have to leave something behind. I can see the hurt so obvious in her eyes now and I have to fight the need to comfort her, aware that there are lines you don't cross. Animals seem to have a sixth sense, able to sense something in the air or something in our scent to know we are not human, just as they can spot a vampire or were creature. It must have hurt to have a beloved pet see her as a stranger. She looks down and I know our time in the air is coming to a close. I nod and hold her as we drop slowly back into the soft sand of the beach shore. I reluctantly release her, giving her space to think as she ponders over sad memories. "Of course, my queen." I look down, kicking some sand softly with my foot. "You are a strong woman, Sam, stronger than I think even you know. I'm sorry if I pushed you. I have a strong sense of family, always have, but then my family life was a lot different than yours. I was born this way, not turned. I had a brother and parents, at least for most of my childhood. I didn't have to leave them. They left me." I give it a moment, hoping that by sharing some of my own troubled past, it might comfort her somewhat to know I have secrets too and I don't mind letting her in. |
