East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It was almost as if she didn't want to talk about the very singing she had mentioned moments ago, her eyes casting downward at his mention of it, my own features frowning softly before she made some attempt to explain that Jpop as Japanese pop. Really, I should have been able to work that out from the words alone although I suppose I might be forgiven if only for my lack of ever having heard it before. The girl seeming almost a little upset about it if anything and I was happy enough to let it pass if only to bring back her grin once more. Some things were better left in the past all the same, it wasn't my business, not really, my attention shifted instead to that every-problematic part of immortality and so attempting to hide it from those more mortal beings who had no idea what you were. Chizue suggesting that my status as a Hunter might make them more accepting if only for that role that seemed to be thrust upon all Hunters to so defend mankind from every other supernatural being. A simper of sorts found it's way to my lips all the same. I don't think anyone, at the office or otherwise, would be willing enough to trust me with their life. My experience with supernatural beings so far had been spraying a vampire with a fire extinguisher, accidentally running over a Weresquirrel in my car, throwing an ipad at a warlock and running and a truly misguided attempt at talking to another dark hunter which had seen me mistake him for the hired help and engage in a riveting conversation about politically incorrect vegetables, like baby carrots. Still- it's the thought that counts.

"Maybe your right."

Well. Maybe she was. I doubted it, but still, she was trying and I could hardly ask for me. She was nice, I liked her. I didn't see any need to further afflict any of my self-pitying on her tonight in the least. Besides this shop she mentioned was nothing short of intriguing. How on earth it might assist me with my cards in any sense I had no idea and yet I was curious enough to look. After all, what else did I have to do with my time? I strode easily out of the bar and onto the street, my rather tall frame falling effortlessly into step beside her own, my own stride significantly longer- so much so I was almost forced to slow myself down, nodding as she pointed in the direction we needed to go. The store we eventually arrived at was...not exactly what I'd expected. Honestly I had no idea what it was. My gaze turned almost curiously towards her.

"The Last Tuesday Society?"

Was she trying to get me to join a poetry group or something? Hell, maybe it was a cult for all I know. This was unexpected. The woman moved to peer into that window that was filled with so many oddities I had no idea what most of them were outside of skulls and the sort of books im entirely sure Azrael would have burned on site before blessing himself with holy water. For one of the Councils top men he was a strangely neurotic fellow. I shook the thoughts away all the same, attempting to follow where she pointed at a mannequin in a blue dress, my features frowning slightly.

"Well- its last season at best. It's not your colour."

Alright. So I thought she wanted my opinion on the outfit, I'm not gay I promise, I just know what looks good, the blue gold of my gaze finally falling onto those three metal playing cards in the mannequins hand. The only truly visible one carved with a sort of skeletal looking Queen of Hearts. Clear surprise registered easily upon my face as I studied them, entirely wondering if I was capable of manipulating them, I suppose I was, I mean, they were cards after all. Chizues whispered words drew my attention back down towards her.

"I think we should look at them in the least, is it open?"

I shifted back towards that door, this the very sort of store that looked like it would be open in the middle of the night, my thoughts proven entirely correct a moment later when I pushed that door open, holding it for Chizue to follow behind me. This was a...weird store, my form moving directly to that point of interest, attempting to avoid the look of that elderly woman behind the counter whom was staring with far more intensity then I liked. I reached easily for that first metal card, plucking it from the mannequins hands, half expecting a hole into hell to open up and swallow the both of us. Well, nothing happened, I guess they are alright to touch then. I turned that Queen of Hearts about within my hand, brushing that smooth metal against my skin.

"Why is she a skeleton?"

Why I expected Chizue to know im not sure, the questioned posed more to myself really before I made some attempt to connect my affinity to that card, letting that power wash over it- maybe a little too much, the card flying with a force I hardly knew I was capable off to embed itself in an animal skull on the other side of the shop- that sickening crack echoing throughout the tiny room. Well. I guess I was buying a skull too.
