East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The woman vampire listens to his words almost lackadaisical attentiveness, like a lion watches the world go about their daily business as she bathes in the warm golden sun. For now she is not a threat, simply tuning out the bar and conversing with this stranger. It was an odd scenario, two unlikely creatures, despite their same species could play cordial, despite their vast differences in views. His laughter bellows cutting through the dense atmosphere of the bar, it was a sound she was unaccustomed to bring out. You see, this little temptress had a tendency to bring out the worst in people.

Her mind was a like an intricate web of her own design and she was the black widow carefully constructing it to trap her victims. But there is something else different about her, besides her fine-tuned hunting. She is a fickle creature, a hard one place if trying to figure her out. She is simply an enigma, forever to wander this world with nothing driving her but her own desires, changing her mind as quickly as changing her clothes. It was a shallow existence, nearly meaningless, but for now it suited her just fine.

He claimed the blood lust did not rule him, in truth, at this very moment he seemed more interested in the drink. Low and behold, everyone is a slave to something whether they realise it yet or not. But she found him amusing for the time being, the way he leans into her his eyes watching her as if trying to search for clues. "I would certainly hope not. Being controlled by bloodlust is rather unimaginative and should be reserved for children." Baby vampires if you will are driven mad by anything that looks red, the scent of blood sent them into an uncontrollable frenzy.

She paused, poised and thoughtful then. She wondered if he knew better then to believe that humans and monsters could truly co-exist. There would always be a force to wedge between them with only a flimsy line of peace at best, separating them from all out war and undying hatred. Humans couldn't even abolish racism, how in the hell are they to accept another species that is so vastly different and feeds off them. Was he truly that hopeful, or was he naïve?

"Ah, but it is not so black and white. That is the problem with so many, supernatural and human alike. They lack imagination. They see in shades of grey. Fear does not simply lie within a name of what we are, it is earned. I don't expect to be feared for merely what I am, even though we are so very exposed in this proverbial spotlight. Many of us.. are highly underestimated. Her shoulders lift in a slight shrug. "Fine by me. But this whole illusion of coexisting is merely a façade." A small smile grows upon her face, a hint to something more sinister beneath her porcelain flesh. This fake sense of peace would bend and eventually shatter as shit would eventually hit the proverbial fan. "Just you watch, when that politician messes up and they always do. The first thing that will get thrown around is the 'v' word." She is positive that he knows of the religious nut jobs that will lie in wait to use the 'satan is among us' card. All they need is a little scent of fear and they will all go running.
More interesting prey, now what on this earth that mean? It was quite true that anyone could be a victim. It did not matter if it was human or vampire or anything else under her spell. "Now you do have me curious, what would you consider challenging?" She leans closer, truly curious, studying his features with perfect monotony.

"Maybe.." She replied nonchalantly. "In case you get hungry." Her nightingale voice seemed to sing. He didn't need to know the little brown rat wasn't real and that it was only a figment. But the trick of it was her illusions are different, created within the fabric of this world. In truth, they were as real as she wanted them to be, at least until they were gone. Gone as quickly as they had come. They could be touched, they could be felt, and they could harm, or at least feel that way. Better yet, they could overwhelm your mind and body and shatter a man if she so desired it. All it took was the right amount of pressure and imagination.

He offered her his name and she tastes it upon her tongue as she had the whiskey, which still lingered there. "Malek.. I am Petra."
