East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Miyako explained clearly that she wasn't left defenseless in the city, she told him she carried her pepper spray with her at all times, yet what the small woman didn't mention was she had taken multiple defense classes and had even gone as far as to teach some. She believed she was entirely safe if some shady individual tried to harass her. It was Arlo's mention of the pepper spray that has Mi waving a hand over her shoulder, her wrist flicking nonchalantly as she brushed his concern off. "Arlo, have you ever been sprayed with pepper spray? It is literally the worst thing ever. It burns like you would not believe and will incapacitate someone long enough for either one, run away, or two call the police. Pepper spray will be sufficient in the city, I promise," she rolls her eyes at the now simmering stew.

Did he really think that the spray wouldn't work? Maybe if he kept this up she would use it on him and show him just how useful it truly was. As her roommate begins to explain that he wasn't like her, that mortification soon creeps into her features as her eyes widen in embarrassment. Not only did she think he was far to overprotective, she was certain she had offended him somehow since they had met. Racking her brain profusely it takes only but a moment for her to be drawn out of her embarrassed thoughts as Arlo has a small outburst. Blinking at him for a moment, she doesn't let the last part of his sentence register as she's too wrapped up in his assurance he wasn't gay.

Mi was just about to ask him if he was a hundred percent certain that he wasn't gay until he explains that he was, in fact, a vampire. And the mayor was a vampire. And the girl was a were-creature. A blank face as she processes it, until his words register and that laughter bubbles from her lips. It takes a while before she gets herself under control but when she does, she's finally able to explain that she doesn't mind his little quirks, albeit the humor dances in her eyes all the while. As Arlo continues to pursue this notion of his that he is a vampire, the humor slowly fades from her features, replaced with the furrowing of her brows.

Perhaps he had some sort of mental illness. She had studied mental illnesses like these but she had never encountered one. It made sense, he truly believed he was a vampire. When he opens his mouth to show her his teeth, she steps forward to inspect it, she goes even as far as to touch one of his canines gently. It felt real but she had seen some incredible work done by doctors, and whatever dentist managed this, they were very talented. "Look Arlo, I know that you truly believe this or at the very least you want to believe this," she starts, pulling her hand away and letting it settle on her hip, "But you probably had your teeth done by a dentist, a very, very skilled dentist. I've never seen work done like that before. If you want to continue on pretending you're a vampire I'll play along as long as it doesn't interfere with my work," she gives him a soft smile, her tone subtly shifting to what she would use at work, working with sick patients.

Turning away from him briefly, she picks up the wooden spoon and gives the stew another good stir. Letting her thoughts briefly wander back to everything Arlo made mention of, she couldn't entirely decide if it was some sort of joke or it was serious enough that she needed to get him in to see a specialist. Furrowing her brows again as she contemplates, she allows her features to return to a more neutral look before she turns to face her roommate. "Hand me the salt and pepper, would you?" she asks a bit absentmindedly. She dealt with patients like Arlo on a daily basis, though most got better, she realized she could easily live with him as long as she played along. Shrugging at the thought, she focuses her chocolate eyes back on the man across the kitchen.
