East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

When she was younger, she'd watched her parents do whatever was required to provide for her. And not even just her, but for them. Unlike perhaps some of the people here that crowded the streets of Sacrosant and filled the "richie rich" part of time or so she had heard the northern side of the city, the family that she came from was small and well, common. Her mother came from a small family, as did her father, although unlike their one and only daughter that wandered into the enticing arms of the concrete jungle to make a life of her own a little too far from home for their liking, they had each had a sibling or siblings. Her mother had an elder sister, Cheryl. Auntie Cher, as Beylani used to call her when she was younger. While her mother was only a year and a half older than her sister, they appeared as though they could have been twins. It was almost alarming how alike they looked, and in turn how much like both the young woman standing there in Inner Sanctum appeared. However, where her mother had only one sibling, the blue-eyed blonde's father came from a family where he had grown up as the middle child. His elder brother, Kade, was never really a part of the young woman's life, and from what she was told of this distant uncle of hers, he was not very close to his family at all and had struck out on his own as soon as he was of age. Her father had once looked up to his eldest sibling, and perhaps a part of Beylani's hunger for things unknown and waters uncharted came from this side of the family. Then, there was her father's little sister, Aletta. Now this aunt she very much knew, the older woman having been the one that babysat her on the many days and nights when the blonde girl's parents were away on business as they diligently worked to ensure that she had the best possible future, no matter where it would lead her. Aletta was a saint in a world of sin and darkness as far as Beylani had been concerned then (and still was, really) and there were no bounds on the games of wild and childish imagination that she was always eager to accompany little Beylani on. If anything, the woman with loosely curled locks of milk chocolate was more like another mother figure than she was simply an auntie.

Raised by two hard-working parents and surrounded by a small yet extremely close family in a small town where neighbors were more than neighbors and a large majority of the locals who were also born and raised there were known for being determined and diligent workers, it was only natural that Beylani would want to follow suit. She had been shown from her earliest memories to this very day that there was very little that did not get achieved with hard work, that if one wanted something strongly enough and was willing to do nearly whatever it took to get there or obtain that thing of their desire, all it would take is persistence enough to shame the wolves that hunted the caribou across a snow tundra. It had all really started back when she was no older than nine years old. She and her parents had been at a second hand store, their original goal being to see if there were laptops in fair condition so that her mother could use it for her work when she wasn't at the office, her occupation occasionally requiring her to work at home and she'd decided then that instead of borrowing one of the company devices she wanted to have one of her own. There had been a bunch of intriguing things from retro furniture and antiques to more modern day things like gaming systems and used appliances like blenders or microwaves. They had nearly everything from clothes to children's toys and hobby collectibles, things that people no longer wanted but believed someone else might be able to make use of. That had been the day she had seen it... It was locked away safely within a glass case along with other fairly pricey used items, but never could the young woman unremember when she saw that small red digital camera. Her parents had gotten her an inexpensive camera for her the Christmas before when first she'd decided that she wanted to grow up to be a photographer. She loved this first camera of hers, but when she saw that nikon coolpix l24, she knew she wanted something better. After all, if she truly wanted to be a famous photographer, she'd need the right equipment right?

Even today she could remember how she'd begged and pleaded her parents to let her have that camera, promising as children so often did that she would always do as she was told and that she'd never ask for another things in the whole wide world. While some children so desired shiny new figurines, dolls, or game systems, it was the blue-eyed blonde that had always wanted to have the next best camera from her amateur pictures. While most girls dreamt of growing up to be a princess, a doctor, or even a veterinarian, Beylani had always dreamed of becoming a world famous photographer and she was certain then that the little red camera with scratches here and there would be the beginning of it all for her. She'd cried at first when her parents had told her they would not buy her the camera, but when they instead told her that if she started doing some chores around the house and she saved up her money, then just maybe she would be able to buy it all by herself. They'd laughed among themselves when they'd seen the determination written so plainly on their young daughter's face simply for the fact that they believed this sudden readiness to work hard and earn a few dollars here and there would only turn out to be a short-lived experience for Beylani and her young mind would soon decide washing dishes and dusting was not something she wanted to do every day. Well, little did they know just how much she truly wanted that little camera. She worked hard every day doing the house chores that they assigned to her, and every few days they would give her a few dollars for her hard work that she would quickly put into her porcelain piggy bank she kept beside her bed. After a few weeks went buy and she asked her mother to drive her to that little second hand store only to realize she still had a way to go to have enough money, she decided that house chores weren't going to be enough. So what does young Beylani do? She begins to ask her aunts if there was anything she could do for them so that she could earn a few extra dollars on top of her allowance, and of course they were eager to feed the determination in the girl and happily gave her little tasks here and there to tend to. It had taken months of hard work for someone so young, and she had been so sure back then that she'd washed enough dishes and folded enough clothes to build a tower that could reach up to the sky but in the end, she had earned enough money to make that small red digital camera all her own. Never had there been a prouder moment in her young life than when she walked up to the clerk and placed her piggy bank full of loose change and one dollar bills in front of him, pointing to the camera in that glass case she had saved up for. From then on, she only ever worked hard for the money she earned and as months turned into years and she began to take on odd jobs where she could, having learned that day the camera has been placed into her small hands that hard work would always pay off. Sometimes it would take a while to get there, but they key was to never give up or give in.

She isn't left waiting for long with the barista as she turns around and gestures for someone to come over and join her at the front counter. There is a small prick or nervousness within the blue-eyed blonde woman's chest as she stands there patiently. An older man is the one that moves to stand beside the barista after having set down two jugs of milk, his own blue eyes almost piercing through Beylani's. Unlike her own gaze, his was hardened and scrutinizing, almost expectant in a way as he looks her over before his voice toughened with age is ushered forth. There is little warmth or friendliness to be found about this man, but he was The owner of this very busy café and she was certain that he himself was also a very busy many that didn't have much time to waste in the day musing young women like herself - and she also very much doubted he would have such patience to do so. She takes a step closer to where he stands on the opposite side of the counter and gibes him that same sweet and bright smile she would happily give to anyone, extending her arm and offering her hand to shake in formal greeting and respect."Good morning, sir. My name is Beylani, and I couldn't help noticing your 'Help Wanted' sign in the window there", she starts off as she gestures fleetingly towards where the sign was perched, her own voice calm and warm yet light and almost "peppy" as she did her best to hold fast to the initial confidence she'd woken up with this morning."I was wondering if you might consider hiring me and if there is an application I would need to fill out. I would be happy to work whatever hours are needed and though I haven't worked in a café before, I'm very much eager to learn new skills", she continues on as she steadied her gaze upon his own, never wavering or faltering as she fell silent. There is a quiet determination that dances across her baby blues, the same bright smile playing across blush-colored lips as she waits patiently for the gentleman before her to show some sort of reaction or offer her a reply.
