Miya is surprised when Ludo invites her to dinner, allowing a small smile to mirror his, "Oh, that would be amazing! It's always so much more fun to share food with someone else, it tastes better too," she exclaims brightly, warmth beginning to find its way back into her limbs. When he comments on her failed attempt at beer stew, she frowns at him as he explains, "But there are so many types of beer," she complains, her bottom lip jutting out slightly as she is practically pouting at the Italian man sitting across from her. Listening to him intently as he explains how food is a way of life for him, she beams prettily at him, leaning forward slightly, "Before my mom passed away, we used to eat every meal together. It was wonderful," Miya murmurs, her eyes taking on a distant look as she remembers her gentle mother.
She's drawn from the memories as Ludo hands her his jacket, and she flushes, embarrassed. Taking it, she slips it on, rolling the sleeves up; what she didn't expect was for Ludo to laugh at her. Frowning, she pouts at him intending to ask why he was laughing at her and what that foreign phrase meant. Parting her lips to question him, she's interrupted by the return of the waitress, asking for her order. Frantically, she pours over the drink menu before deciding she would stick with what Ludo was having. As the woman bustles off, Miya glances at the Italian man as he begins to speak once more. "I've never had beer," she admits, a bit embarrassed. For god's sake, the woman was twenty-five years old and she had hardly any experience when it came to alcohol!
"I didn't really like the wine I tried, it made my mouth feel super dry," she frowns at the memory, "I really don't know what to look for in alcohol so I just don't drink," she admits, her cheeks flushing once more. "I'm sure I would like it more if I knew what I was looking for, I've also never tried to pair anything with food before," she states, rather enjoying the flow of their conversation. "I agree," she replies to him, smiling shyly at the man just as the woman brings back her drink. Nodding her head, she takes it and sets it on the table briefly before taking a tentative sip. Puckering her face, she shoves the drink away, grateful when Ludo slides his drink towards her. Eagerly accepting it, she takes a few swigs to rid the taste, completely missing the smile that is directed at her.
"That was awful," she murmurs before nodding to Ludo, "I've never had poutine, that sounds good to me," she beams at him as the waitress returns, allowing Ludo to do the ordering. After she bustles back off to turn in the order, she reaches back for the beer and slides it close, her delicate hands wrapped around the glass. "I'll still drink it, I feel bad for it going to waste, plus you said you would pay and it makes me feel guilty," she explains quickly, forcing herself to take another drink. This time she doesn't exclaim in disgust, though she can't help the puckering of her lips. She's grateful for the change of topic, so she didn't have to dwell on how god awful this beer was.
"Actually, I just finished my last exam today," she beams excitedly at him, "I'm a student at the university here and I'm studying to become a doctor. I finally get to start my residency!" she exclaims happily, "That's why I decided to come out and celebrate. I don't know very many people here that's why I came out by myself. I wanted to treat myself to a meal that I didn't have to cook," she explains, lifting that beer to her lips and taking another drink. This time she can't help but cough, wincing, though, she's certain that it was starting to taste a little better, "I think I'm getting used to this," she says, her chocolate gaze traveling up to Ludo. "I never got to ask you before, what do you do? Are you a student too?"
