She didn't know why he felt the need to tell her the story but she was glad he did. She didn't know a lot about Henry. He was an introvert by nature and didn't tell anyone a lot about himself. He was a mystery, a closed book. She felt special to be able to know this about him cause she wasn't sure not many other people would know about their back story. It just made her want to get them back together that much more. She could see the way Henry's eyes lit up when he talked about Sterling and the pain that flickered in his eyes when he brought what happened to Sterling. She wanted to take all that away and for a moment, she wished that was a power she could have, but it didn't seem that was meant to be for her. She knew she was right when she told him that he had to forgive himself. He still seemed so torn up inside. He said that he was a monster and her expression softened as she lowered her voice and leaned toward him. "Monsters need love too, Henry. Sterling chose you. He still chooses you. Be with him. It's what's best for both of you." She could see so many dark thoughts behind those eyes and it hurt her to see him this way. Suddenly he leaned back and asked for the check, telling her to take the food. She leaned back in her chair with a huff, crossing her arms and shrugged. "Okay, but only so good food doesn't go to waste." When he apologized though, she scowled. "You didn't. You let me in and that's something. I understand a little better now what you've been going through. I just hate that you've been going through it alone." She couldn't help but glare at the waitor as he took Henry's card, mad at him for interrupting. Her lips curled a little but she turned her attention back to Henry. "You wouldn't have told me unless some part of you wanted to reach out and get help. Please...try to forgive yourself. You don't deserve to be alone the rest of your life and neither does Sterling. You'll only hate yourself more when someone else steps in to do what you won't and makes him happy again." |
