The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I know she may never forgive herself for what she did to her pack but in some ways I envy her. I could never hurt a fly, at least that's what I tell myself, but sometimes I wish I could have defended myself, that I could have shown my dad that I'm strong and capable. I'm too submissive, too weak, and I hate that about myself. Raven is strong willed and independent. She's just as sure of herself alone as with someone. I admire her in so many ways. I know that she thinks of her heral mind as a weakness but I only wish I could have a power like that, one where I could be free and turn off all my emotions, one where I could be strong for once. I don't have many people to turn to now for companionship but I'm thankful for the ones I do have. Raven is my strongest ally with Tobi and Isolt coming in next. I don't really know anyone else. There's that Chemi girl but I don't know her very well at all. I don't have many but I cherish the ones I do have. I've never been good at being alone and if its up to me, I'll never be alone for long. I don't know what I would do without Raven's companionship. Meanwhile I've got her choking tea down the wrong pipe. I stand up, wondering if she's okay and people start looking. I know she doesn't like it when people pay attention and neither do I. I visibly shrink some but I take my seat again when she gestures with her hand, all too happy to oblige, though my eyes remain staring wide eyed at her in concern. She lowers her head and I withdraw a little, wondering if I did something wrong. Then she gives me a small smile and I hesitate to respond with one of my own, listening as she says that she's not sure if she wants to ask the question. I nod my head, understanding the fear of rejection and a little relieved secretly that she doesn'twant to push for more with him just yet. At her question, I smile and shake my head. "I don't drink the coffee. I'm not much for the taste. I just like the smell." I smile sheepishly and duck my head some before taking a bite of my bagel. I contemplate her question as I look around the cafe. "Um, want to go by the meadow and see how many rabbits we can catch? Bet I'll beat you this time." I smirk a little. I was a little too hesitant before, thinking she might trample me to get to the rabbit first but now I know that she would never do such a thing so I plan on showing her just how good a hunter I am. |
