East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He did not miss the way she stole glances as they walked. It made him uncomfortable, but he didn't show it. Perhaps it was just because he had never been around someone who looked at him in that manner. He wasn't exactly a ladies man, contrary to what many might think. He'd never had a girlfriend, never even gone on a date with a woman he was really interested in. This was a first. The whole experience was strange and uncomfortable, but he was trying his best to just live within the moment and now allow anything to bother him. And so, he didn't draw his gaze to her or draw attention to her glances. He would let her have them. In a way, it made him feel good. Surely he would have to say an extra prayer tonight.

They talked about living arrangements and who he knew. She mentioned that she knew Nadya, that the woman was actually in her pack and dating the alpha. He longed for that pack bond. Perhaps he would find himself a pack soon enough. "She and her children seem kind. I've only met them once, at the beach. Her children were impressed with my surfboard." He smiled at the memory of how the children fawned over his surfboard as if it were some object from outer space. He had offered to teach the children to surf at the pool, but he had yet to come across her again. "I offered to teach them to surf. So when you see Nadya again, let her know that I live near the bar I found you in." He would always hold up on his promises and offers. Never had he lied about a thing like that. Perhaps that's what made him genuine. He only said what he meant. It was a shame more people weren't like that now.

Ashton listened to her list all the people she knew and he had to admit, she knew far more about this place and meeting people than he did. Perhaps he should take some pointers from her. It seemed like she had a pretty healthy connection with people. Maybe she could introduce him to the others sometime.

He nearly choked on his own saliva when she asked if he had any girlfriend's before...or boyfriends. As she began to steer the conversation down the path of homosexuality, Ashton began to get more uncomfortable. "My beliefs forbid homosexuality...though it does not mean I cannot befriend them." He had nothing against the people, only the choices they made. "But no, no girlfriends that ever meant anything to me. Many find me...too plain, too conservative, too religious. They call me old-fashioned." Many women, he was learning, wanting to just sleep with everyone to test them out. They didn't want to hold conversations to see if they were even compatible. Many could not handle his views. Could she?
