East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Hold on to this lullaby; even when the music's gone

I had that urge to continue following orders. Orders that I knew came from a dead man and maybe that was why I did it. Because my father was dead. He died defending his home and his children. My mother and one of my sisters were dead too, I didn't know where the rest were, this city was too big for me to keep searching on my own. I decided to head deeper into the lions den to follow the orders of a ghost. That was what I was good at, wasn't it?

I also knew that the City and its inhabitants meant safety for the time being. I had to figure things out first. I knew nothing about the world around me except what I find in the books I read.

My footsteps took me into this place of foreign metal and I was sure that if any other Were passed by they would be able to smell the fear coming off me. Being alone in a new place was terrifying but I held my head high and set off down the main street, or what I thought was the main street. It could have been anything at this point and I would have willingly walked down it.

I watched the lights of the shops pass by, twirling in the middle of the street to take in all of the bright lights. It earned me quite a few honks from the cars and I jumped back on the sidewalk with a smile and a laugh. One of the first since being here.

I was walking by another set of windows, not really paying any attention to it and instead being fixated on something across the street. I had managed to steal a pair of shoes after leaving the park and only took my bloodied jeans and top, leaving the rest of the clothing for someone else to wonder about.

The scents that assaulted my nose were very familiar; I dealt with them on a regular basis. It was sugar and the warms smells of a kitchen, the one place I truly felt comfortable in. Where I could show off the skills I had taught myself. I really enjoyed baking, it started off with me making a mess when I was a child, but my parents caved to my every whim. Just like everyone else had, they had been frightened and they wanted me docile. I have no idea if I would have turned out differently because of it.

I certainly wasn't presentable to walk into a place like that, so I stood off to the side of the door and peered in through the windows. Maybe I would come back when I figured things out, it certainly seemed like it would be warm and inviting.
