East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The hunter is careful to keep his distance as I ascend the stairs, as if scared to get too close and I don't know if it's because he can sense my fear of the unknown or if it's because he doesn't want to get too close to a were. He has been nothing but kind to me but that could just be because the alternative is one of us going out into the storm. I can see him looking around too which makes me a bit more shy about being too nosy. I don't want to make him self conscious or anything. He answers the thought I said out loud, my brows lifting as he says that he would have it no other way. My lips twitch toward a smile.

"You must love your job, to want to be so close to it."

I muse. I watch him as he moves to the fire, kneeling in front of it. My eyes flicker over the flames. I am scared of fire in it's wild state, a forest fire having ripped through my life once and it haunts me to this day. I can still smell the woods burning around my home. I try to shake the memories, coming back to the moment. I do like the fire place at Raven's house. At his suggestion, I nod shyly and move closer to the fire, taking a seat on the rug as I pull my knees up to my chest and hug them with my arms, drawing in the warmth as good as I can.

When he moves toward the kitchen, I look up with curiosity, watching him move about with a skillet. I tilt my head, listening attentively as he tells me about the milk. My expression is that of innocence and curiosity. At his question, I shake my head.

"No, we always ate what we killed raw."

I offer matter of factly, wondering if he'll still judge me for being a were.
