East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The shift in temperament was easy to notice, though Ian wasn't particularly perceptive, the false smile she had presented him with faded away swiftly once recognition dawned on her face. She was strangely accepting of his bizarre ways, there seemed to be no judgement in her eyes despite his goofy behavior, he flashed a warm grin, clearly enjoying the fact she now felt comfortable enough with him to poke fun and joke alongside him.

"I shouldn't have to pay you, you should smile like this at home all the time, cos I'm there" And in part he meant it, the rare smiles that she offered were precious in a fashion. He had grown accustomed to her usual expressions, not so much sullen, but guarded, as though she had something to hide, but those few times she did smile it added a brightness and a beauty to her face that wasn't easily surpassed. Perhaps it was why he goofed off so much, he worked towards getting another one of those smiles.

As she relaxed in his presence, he took the time to scan the shop, despite living in the city for some time Ian hadn't once ventured in here. Almost instantly distracted, he only refocused at the sound of her voice, snapping his gaze back to her and grinning cheekily. "It's like you know. A muffin's fine though." Still scanning the shop briefly, aware that it was more or less empty but the low rumble of conversation could still be heard, he couldn't necessarily pinpoint where from or what they were saying, but he still tried to listen in as best as he could, probably one of the few times Avi would get the opportunity to see him concentrate was when he was trying his hardest to eavesdrop on things he wasn't privy to.

It took a few more swipes of his hand to wipe away the left over dampness from the downpour, one or two rivulets trailing down his temple, going more or less unnoticed as movement from Avi caught his attention and he glanced in the direction she indicated, brightening at the high backed armchair, it looked comfortable and close to a fireplace, but some furniture was deceptive, he'd have to investigate. Starting towards it he paused and flashed a smile that was less of a cheeky one, but more coy â€" the corners of his lips quirking upwards minutely. "Pretty close." An offhand statement that should have been made quieter than it actually was.

Still, he continued towards the chair, sinking into it with a thoughtful expression, brows furrowed slightly as he shifted to test out the full range of comfort it would provide. It was good, not a single spring out of place or any skimping on the padding and he settled with a much more content smile made only better by the rush of heat, convincing him to shed the jacket and hooded top that had protected him from the deluge outside. "Not bored, I can sleep if I'm bored. Just hadn't seen you for a few days." He made the statement without a thought to how she'd react, and he showed no concern that Avi would take it the wrong way, tearing off a chunk of the still warm muffin, he let his gaze roam the café again. "Do you just stay here on your own all day?"
