East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It is daybreak, dawn finally reaching its tendrils over the buildings to throw patches of light on the cement as she walks. There is a distinct earthy smell about her as if she had just come from sitting outside in the rain. It is a fresh scent, not at all stale and even she has to inhale her own uniqueness as the wind blows her hair back from her face. She'd come from the forests as she did every morning to buy a cup of coffee at the nearest cafe--black, no milk, lots of sugar--for the fact that it would have maximum caffeine and would keep her running through the day. She slept in the forest, in her Were-form, careful to keep watch for any predators that went bump in the night. She was still trying to get used to this new city. It was different from New York, the smell was different, almost as if the Bronx Zoo had opened its gates within the very perimeters of the city. She should know, she'd spent the better part of a year in the Zoo, she had started working there when she was fifteen too caught up in having a job to notice that her family had way more than it needed and she could subsist off it if she wanted. She hadn't wanted to, she had wanted to make her own mark on the world and if that meant sweeping the pavement free of litter than she was more than happy to do it.

She pulled the black leather jacket closer, flipping the collar up against the wind that trickled down the back of her neck, she hated that. There was a moment where she'd caught the scent of something delicious and she had stopped to stare into the window of the nearest coffee shop, contemplating whether or not to stop there or go to her usual haunt. Indecision caused her to pause a moment before rolling her eyes at her hesitation and entering. She exited with her coffee and a pastry filled with raspberry, juggling the two while the coffee was hot. She made her way back outside, fond of the outdoors and all it's wonders, and took a seat on the bench near the door. She leaned back, propping one booted foot on top of the other, shoving the sleeves of the jacket up to expose the barest hint of tattoos before she'd devoured the pastry, lingering on the sweet taste of the raspberry for too short a time. She was just nursing the coffee and it's sweet, strong taste when she'd heard the woman's voice.

She glanced up, almost lazy in her perusal of the woman and immediately laughed, "Well, if that isn't a walk I've seen too many times to count..." She called to her, not really caring if she blew her off, but the fact that the other woman thought to snap at those looking at her was laughable. She was on a walk of shame after all, from the previous night's clothing down to the small smudge of mascara at the corner of her eye. "Was he at least good? Or she, though you don't seem the type," She raises an eyebrow then as if she were truly curious about the woman's conquests. She was more curious about the scent she caught underneath the woman's own scent, she was Were, she knew it from the way it wove the two halves of her together.
