East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

Despite the millenniums that had passed between his birth year and now, Alexander could still say with relative confidence that he had been blessed enough to have received an education that was far superior then that most were given. After all, it wasn't as if many were taught by Socrates himself, much less understood his teachings anymore. Even with such knowledge, Alexander found himself entirely surprised to discover the female in front of him seemed apprehensive if only because she was required to count. Alexander was hardly capable of allowing the girl to work within his cafe without the most basic skill of counting. It was something he made a mental note to work on with her before placing her in front of his register. "Eventually." He stated simply, trying not to invoke concern within her. Instead, Alexander comfortably settled on the nearby bench with her, content to waste his day with her making stories of the people who passed them. It was peculiar - how such a small act could put him such at ease, managing to bring a simper to his often calm features.

Unfortunately for him, whatever sense of enjoyment she had so carefully crafted within him had all by dissipated by the following morning. Dawn was always by far the most stressful within the small cafe. His patrons were short and to the point, annoyed when their drinks didn't arrive in a timely fashion even when it was some peculiar concoction like a triple shot caramel frappuccino with soy milk, vanilla syrup and hazelnut drizzle. Even so, today was perhaps worse then it had been in a while, a line slowly starting to form earlier then their usual time. Regardless of the stress placed upon him by the demands of his patrons, Alexander was able to handle their insistence with relative ease. The cafe was hardly comparable to the battlefield - even if it had been centuries since any true war had taken place beneath his capable command. Still it was busy enough that Alexander had nearly forgotten entirely that he had invited Alexis to start today at the cafe until the young woman had walked through the door of the cafe, the bell ringing in her wake.

His blue-green gaze turned towards her, a weak simper dancing on the male's features, "Good morning Alexis." He called out to her over the hum of the cafe's residents. Alexander gestured towards her to come around behind the counter, hardly missing a beat between writing down the order being spoken quite impatiently towards him. The man entirely ignored the woman's demand to ensure he heard her, instead repeating her order back with that low tone he often used to express that he was perhaps just as eager to not fulfill her order at all. The cup was placed upon the counter next to him where a line of his carefully written upon cups already existed. "Do you know how to write?" He inquired briefly to the young girl only when she was at his side. Alexander was dead set upon finding something she was capable of helping with this morning, even if it was just running the drinks to those who were settled within the inside of the cafe. Eventually, in time, he'd get her proficient at all areas of the bistro but, for now, he would settle with one thing.
