The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

If Samantha would have known the way that Nadya would have reacted to her words regarding the vampire, she would have surely kept her mouth shut. It seemed... after everything that she'd neglected to tell the girl in the past months, Samantha was determined to make sure that Nadya no longer felt as though she was missing out on important information involving Samantha and her brother. However, Samantha was able to pick up on the emotional pain the woman went through as she tried to control her body's urge to shift. It was almost as though she could feel the physical pain, and it took Samantha several moments of blinking to understand the words that were said to her. "I know," She said very quietly, reaching up to tug lightly at the ends of her hair nervously. "I won't. I'll figure out something else to help clear my head, I promise." Samantha was content to let the subject drop at that, merely flipping through the papers that rested in her lap. It all seemed easy enough, and Samantha had no problem in consenting her agreement. She barely nodded in return to Nadya's thanks, giving her a small smile as she continued to read.
It was finally the fact that she couldn't focus due to the pain she felt for Nadya that caused her to shut the files, sitting up straight as she suggested that the pair of girls do something. At first, she was entirely expecting Nadya to reject her, but she was even more pleased when Nadya immediately perked up. She sat still as her boss disappeared behind the screen to change. When she stepped out again, it made the young girl look down at her own clothes in embarrassment. Samantha herself owned exactly three pairs of jeans â€" only one of which didn't have worn holes in the knees â€" and a collection of simple hoodies and v-neck tee shirts. Her hair was typically tangled and a blonde mess around her face, and today was absolutely no exception. Even though Nadya was dressed down from her normal work outfits, she was still certainly more dressed up than the young faerie. All Samantha could do was hope that whatever Nadya had planned, she wasn't too underdressed in her jeans, hoodie, and faded converse.
She hadn't really expected Nadya to stop and explain, and Samantha made no effort to stop her as she continued out of her office. Samantha merely leapt to her feet, following her way down the stairs to the backstage area. Immediately, Samantha felt as if every nerve ending of her body was on edge in the presence of the other girls. Still, none of the girls dared even look at her wrong when she was near Nadya. Somehow, she'd have to get Nadya to teach her how to command authority over the other girls so easily. She stood beside Nadya as she spoke, then moved swiftly as Nadya continued. She barely offered the other girls a glance, instead focused only on Nadya as she went to the car that Nadya owned. She didn't hesitate to go to the passenger side of the vehicle and let herself in, hardly surprised when Nadya pulled out the instant she was in the leather seat.
Samantha watched out the window as they drove, both girls seeming content to sit in silence. She wasn't sure why Nadya wasn't speaking, but Samantha decided to keep quiet in order to maintain the controlled attitude that Nadya had. The last thing she wanted was to cause the girl to shift while driving her car, and Sam wasn't sure what words were safe right now. The young faerie only lived her gaze as Nadya pulled into a parking spot. The color seemed to drain from Sam's face all at once. The store looked like something you'd see in a magazine, not something that the nearly homeless young faerie would feel comfortable in. She was about to question what they were doing when Nadya began to speak and the fae turned her gaze entirely to focus on what she was being told. "Trapped?" Samantha vocalized, clearly confused by the woman's story. Samantha wasn't sure if she should stress the story that she was being told, especially given the flare up of emotions that seemed to surround her companion.
It was the woman's final words that caused Samantha's head to lift in surprise. Her gaze went from her boss to the clothing shop they were parked in front of. This was the moment in which Nadya would understand exactly how sad Samantha was. Samantha was sure she wouldn't even be able to afford a pair of sunglasses from the store in front of them, let alone any article of clothing. In fact, the young girl wasn't even sure if she could budget that. "I... I..." The woman's words made sense, sure, but it wasn't as though Samantha could do anything about them. "Nadya, I don't have any money." Color flared up in Samantha's cheeks in embarrassment. She remembered the anxiety she'd felt about showing Aiden her apartment for the first time â€" and she hadn't even truly known him then. It was clearly a sore spot for the young woman: a source of embarrassment that even she couldn't hide. "If you want me to get new clothes, perhaps we should go to Goodwill or to a Salvation Army or something..."
Samantha ducked her head down, sighing softly. Sure, the girl loved the way that Nadya's outfits always seemed so put together and coordinated, but it wasn't something that she could do herself. After all, Samantha hardly ever had money to spare. Her money went to rent for the shabby, yet expensive apartment she held to keep herself from being homeless. Spare money went for food, utilities... She'd love to look the way Nadya did, but it was just as impossible as Nadya controlling her urge to shift at the moment.
