The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Did he hear his name? He hardly noticed the hands around the bench behind him, and quickly he turned to look up in a paranoid fashion, even though the voice sounded like one he remembers. At least, he thinks he remembers. And when his eyes are met with the vampire's, his heart begins to beat feverishly. A very genuine look of surprise and relief washes over him and he smiles. He's speechless and all he can do is watch as he sits next to him. The rest of the world simply fades away in the background. All worries, pain and fears .. gone.
He watches as the vampire reaches up to his cheek, stopping short. He thinks he can see uncertainty, maybe confusion in his blue eyes. He puts the bottle and everything beside him down and instinctively, he grabs his hand softly with his own, never breaking eye contact. Darien's own eyes get watery and he chokes to find the right words. "Is that really you, Seb?" He presses Sebastian's hand against his cheek, whispering harshly. "This isn't some cruel trick?" As if needing physical proof and he gets it from the touch.
His hand tightens around Seb's and he lets out a short chuckle. Of course he was really there. He was as real as anything and Darien is helpless. He wants to take away any uneasy feelings from his companion, but he doesn't. He fights back the urge to use his gift and instead takes it all in as it should be; natural, and authentic. "I didn't think I'd see you again. So much happened. I had .. I had given up." He can barely finish the last four words, feeling cowardly and weak in front of the vampire for admitting such a thing. He lets go of Seb's hand and lets it find the bottle of whiskey and with a forced smile (trying to cover up the vulnerability he just expressed) he takes a large swig and wipes away a tear that somehow let loose from his eye with his sleeve.
He flinches as the salty tear touches his cut and then absentmindedly rubbing it with his rough jacket. The vampire had that affect on him - making him forget everything. He hasn't forgotten Seb's concerned words though and he quickly turns the subject back to its intended course; far from Darien's emotional one. "I'm fine. I just .. I met someone interesting. You should see the cut on my leg. That one needed stitches. I was suppose to have them on my face too but I went for the glue instead. I think the scars are gonna really add some character." He then looks up and leans in close, "He wasn't as interesting as you, though." A cheeky, naughty smirk replaces the smile on his face. Darien then offers up his drink to Seb, and wrapped around the bottle, between his fingers, was the handkerchief he had given him. "I knew we'd see each other again."
In some strange way, Darien felt like their meeting was dangerous. He had no idea what had happened to Sebastian, but all he knew was his own troubles. That Hunter was still out there and now Darien's life was no longer free of being invisible. But being around this vampire, when he should have felt like prey and nothing .. he felt safe, he felt like there was some strange connection that neither understood. And all Darien wanted was to feel that same sense of closeness from that night. There was virtually no space between them and the fae uses this selfishly to get that feeling he desired. He embraces Seb suddenly, resting his head as close to his and pulling him in. He whispers into his ear with the same words, but this time, with more heart. "I knew we'd see each other again."
