East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The anger that plagued the faerie girl had hardly settled with the bursting of the windows, her threat to the woman entirely genuine. No, she did not like being told what she could and could not do, and being toyed with... It had only brought out the stubborn side of Samantha that she thought had been dead the moment she'd been captured by her faerie tormenters on that cold night so long ago. Seven days of torture, it seemed, would break a person. But no, not entirely. No, Samantha was stronger than that, more resilient. It had been Nadya that had told her that. And yet, and yet she was implying that the job wasn't making her strong, wasn't making her capable. No, only that it was filling her head with ideas that she couldn't handle. But that wasn't the case, no. No. Samantha was strong. It was perhaps the alcohol that was making her brave. The alcohol mixed with the paranoia of Frost's visit only made the woman jumpy, quick to do what she had to do protect herself.

Even so, the woman hardly flinched at the explosions that Nadya created, her eyes raised to meet the Beta's. They weren't so far apart now, were they. The Faerie Queen and the Were Beta. Both women in power, both capable. "You've had your whole life to master your powers, Nadya," Samantha spoke calmly at the threat, allowing no fear to creep into her stance. "I haven't been fae for as long as others, but I have powers, and I'm learning to use them. I will wield them, and I will be entirely capable." She paused, crossing her arms across her chest as she listened to the woman speak, still affording her that respect. She frowned at the request, merely shaking her head. "Downstairs, in front of customers and our employees, I will speak to you as the owner of the establishment. Here, in private, when you've insulted not only me but my ability to lead my monarchy, I will speak to you as I choose." She would do her position in front of others, but no, this was as much Samantha's office now as it was Nadya's, until Nadya was fit to regain her position, it seemed. "You've questioned my ability to lead and questioned if I thought about it. No, I will not take that. I did what I had to do to protect myself. If..." The paranoia seemed to grab at her, the woman closing her eyes as she shook her head. She didn't finish the sentence. Frost's warning not to speak to Nadya about it now that she lived under the Ark enough to shut her up quickly.

The rest of her outburst was squashed quickly by the mention of Izzy and Micah. She cared so little about the pack outside of Aiden â€" even though, according to Raven, she was supposedly a new Alpha to them â€" and their rankings and hierarchy. She knew so little about the pack outside of the names of his members. It was Aiden's pack, just as it was Sam's monarchy. They would stay out of it for each other, she was sure. So whether or not the pack was a suitable place for the twins, Samantha truly had no idea. But still, the rage that she'd felt moments before seemed to fade at the mention of the twins. She'd grown so attached to the little ones in her first months working at the burlesque. Considering her poor dancing skills, she'd been trusted to watch over them as Nadya worked. The sweet little things were missed around here, their toys still tucked away on the shelf as though they would come back at any moment. Sam knew that Nadya missed them, she wasn't naïve. Samantha missed them terribly as well. She missed the way they would both crawl onto her lap when she'd read to them, how Izzy had a thing for Sam's singing, and how Micah seemed to enjoy holding onto a lock of Sam's hair when she'd hold him. Or how after numerous attempts at trying to get them to say her name, she'd finally settled at simply being "M'am" to them â€" a title she loved. The mention of the babies was enough to soothe the girl, her body moving around the desk to guide Nadya and herself into the plush chairs.

"Of course you need them back," Samantha said quietly, reaching to put a hand on Nadya's arm. Despite her anger, she knew Nadya meant well, and that anger even was gone at the mention of the children. Now, it was clear for the woman to see that Nadya needed comfort, and though Sam was still annoyed by her actions, she could do at least that. "You're their mother, Nadya. And a fit one, too. They belong with you." She took in a breath of air at the mention of the other offer. Yes, Samantha would stay out of Aiden's business when it came to the pack, though even she was smart enough to know that Nadya's departure would crush her boyfriend. "You can't leave his pack, Nadya. He loves you. He would do anything for you. You leaving..." She shook her head.

"Bring the twins back," Samantha said softly, looking at her. "If you don't want to raise them in the Ark, then find a new place to live. I'll help you with them as much as I can. Be their full time Nanny, if you need me to. I can offer you and them the protection of my monarchy as well as the protection of your pack, Nadya." But even as she spoke it, as Nadya herself mentioned the other Alpha, Samantha was aware it would do no good. The emotions that swirled around the girl were strong, strong enough that Samantha couldn't block them out with the effects of the alcohol. They were just... what she was feeling for Aiden, even. "Oh." She whispered, her fingers squeezing Nadya's arm gently. "Oh Nadya, you love him. Oh... Oh that complicates things."
